Session Magazine Issue #15 has arrived. Our Fall Issue moves through a world of waves, wild places, and the people drawn to them.

On the cover, Marcus Paladino captures Luke Lopez disappearing into the barrel at a new wave pool in the Middle East. Luke is a young surfer from Daytona Beach, Florida, and the son of surfing icon Cory Lopez. He’s grown up around some serious surfing and, by all accounts, is already carrying plenty of his own fire. Luke’s a goofy footer with a taste for heavy waves and a knack for finding the tube. Now a member of the USA Surfing junior ranks, he represents the next generation of Florida surfers coming up!

On South Africa’s West Coast, a crew of big-wave surfers fights to protect threatened breaks and beach access from mining. In South America, nine fathers and sons share an unforgettable week chasing some of the longest waves on earth. Finland brings cold water, long light, and the quiet ritual of a post-session sauna. In Saudi Arabia, Marcus Paladino explores a new wave pool rising from the Red Sea.

Dylan Stott takes us into the hard-edged reality of life on the North Shore, while Evelyn O’Doherty disappears into the fjords of Norway. Vinni Martins follows the emerging wing-foiling scene in Rio, and Steve West takes us back to a time when surf films were experienced in crowded theaters, together, before the age of YouTube.

These are stories about waves, but also about the people, places, and cultures that surround them. Hit the link direclty in our bio and start your journey with Session Magazine today!

The biggest waves often require the quietest mind.

In the latest episode of On Water, Session Magazine sits down with big-wave legend Greg Long for a wide ranging conversation about mindful breathing, breath work, surf safety, ocean conservation, and what comes next.

As the new president of BWRAG, Greg shares his vision for bringing critical lifesaving skills to surf communities around the world, while also talking about his work with Surfrider, the designation of Zicatela as a World Surfing Reserve, and the deeper purpose driving his next chapter.

This is Greg Long beyond the waves, a conversation about slowing down, giving back, and finding ways to make the ocean safer for everyone who enters it.

Somewhere at the far edge of the map, Fiji asks you to slow down. Not because there’s nowhere to go, but because there’s nowhere else you’d rather be. The days begin with the tide, the swell, the wind. There are no crowds to navigate, no clocks to obey, only glassy faces, shifting winds, coral gardens glowing beneath your foil, and the quiet anticipation of what the next set might bring.

For Chiara Socin and Paula Novotna, the trip became an immersion in that rhythm. Wingfoiling when the trades filled in. Tow foiling when the ocean went quiet. Exploring reef lines around Malolo, Namotu, Tavarua, and beyond. Finding an empty stretch of water where the lines just kept coming, ride after ride, with nothing but blue in every direction.

Three weeks in the islands. Not a single day out of the water. This article Good Vibes & Glide Lines: Fiji Foiling Days from Session Magazine Summer26 Issue #14 is a reminder that sometimes the best journeys aren’t about getting somewhere. They’re about finding a place that makes you want to stay.

What happens when you look at whales not as monsters of myth, but as survivors of ours? In “The Forgiveness of Leviathans,” Ashleigh Watson travels from the Arctic to Alaska and Tonga, tracing the complicated history between humans and the great whales—and confronting the uncomfortable truth that our relationship with the ocean is still shaped by extraction, consumption and exploitation. A beautiful, haunting meditation on whales, wild places, and whether the creatures we nearly erased might somehow forgive us.

April 2026 - The Conversation about Norway began years ago with my daughter Tahiti. She’s an insatiable traveler, and her thoughts about Norway were very specific. She wanted to explore Lofoten, an archipelago of stunning islands within the Arctic Circle. It was at the the top of her travel bucket list. - Pete Cabrinha

The article follows Pete Cabrinha and his daughter, Tahiti, on a sailing adventure through Norway’s Lofoten Islands, where they experience the region’s breathtaking mountains, fjords, turquoise waters, and the magical midnight sun. Guided by Jørgen Amundsen, a descendant of famed explorer Roald Amundsen, they embraced the Norwegian philosophy of friluftsliv—finding joy and connection through life outdoors—while sailing, wing foiling, hiking, and surfing. The journey becomes more than a travel experience, blending history, adventure, and family into a memorable exploration of one of the world’s most spectacular Arctic landscapes.
