“The bogs, rivers, mountains, and shorelines are more than preservers of old myths, bones, and memories. They are energy banks and time sponges, and what is held within them seeks release.”

― Manchán Magan, Listen to the Land Speak: A Journey into the Wisdom of What Lies Beneath Us

So sad to hear this morning that this wonderful man has gone.

Manchan Magan was one of a kind. A creative dynamo, writing books, creating podcasts, TV series, lecture tours on what mattered most to him: this land, it's native language, and culture.

He was a true champion of the female and feminine in his work.

He celebrated the simple and the spiritual in his talk on bread in Irish where he made bread as he spoke.

This photo is one I took of him at an event at UCC on Psychedelic Cultures this March, deep diving into traces of the goddess in the Irish landscape. It was the first...and sadly last time I will meet him in person. I am grateful for my email correspondence with him.

I discovered his work whilst researching my book, She of the Sea, which neatly intertwined with a project he was just finishing called Sea Tamagotchi, where he went round Ireland collecting old words connected to the sea. I quoted from his work...and approached him for an endorsement for the book, which he kindly gave me...and then encouraged his wife to stock Moon Time in her cafe shop.

He was deeply generous of spirit, intellectually curious and unafraid. I envied the way he walked the weird within the mainstream...something I have never managed. He wove ancient Irish culture and language into the everyday - as in his words for women book, and was an all round good human. Gone way too soon, at just 55, with so so much more left to give. An inspiration and example to us all.

A momentous day in the Church of England, the faith I was baptised into as a child... Where only men could be and had ever been vicars...or bishops.

I went to my first church service led by a woman when I was in my early 20s.

For the past couple of decades they have been fighting about whether or not women could be bishops.

And now, finally, the Church of England has a new leader. And it's a woman. For the first time.

The Right Reverend Dame Sarah Mullally has become the first ever female Archbishop of Canterbury, some 1,400 years after the role was created. She is the 106th person to hold the post since St Augustine arrived in England.

In 2025...

Still, it's not the last denomination by a long stretch.

I no longer attend church... mainly because of their stance on women. (And because I have no interest in the Bible!)

But this still fills my heart...in a year full of news that makes you want to despair.

Though Sky New's announcement of her without her name, mentioned only in relation to her husband and kids makes me want to scream...

Celebrating the life and work of Jane Goodall, who died today aged 91. She was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world, and is one of the 12 heroines featured in our book on mother- daughter circles, The Heroines Club.

As Melia Keeton-Digby writes in the book, "Her life and work are living testaments to the beauty and wisdom that comes when we listen to our intuition."

May we heed her wise words and great example.

Wild Disobedience - Finding Sovereignty through Creative Transgression
A Masterclass live on Zoom hosted by Dr. Vanya Leilani

Monday 6th October 6pm (UK time) 10am (Pacific Time US and Canada)

During this one-hour Masterclass, Dr. Leilani will guide us into a deep dive on the experience and power of wild disobedience.

We will explore questions like: what is creative transgression, or wild disobedience, and what is its relationship to cultivating sovereignty?
https://womancraftpublishing.com/product/wild-disobedience-vanya-leilani/

We will look at the ways the archetype of creative transgression shows up in myth, in nature, and in our daily lived experience. You will be invited to wonder where disobedience might be calling you into more sovereignty and leave better equipped to follow your knowing into more freedom.

Our Story

Womancraft Publishing is committed to sharing powerful new women’s voices, through a collaborative creative process. Founded in 2014 by Amazon-bestselling author, Lucy H. Pearce, and based in East Cork, Ireland, we have published 18 titles by 10 women, so far. Our authors are based in the US, Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal, Ecuador and the UK, and several of our titles are in multiple languages.

Womancraft was founded on the revolutionary vision that women and words can change the world. We act as midwife to transformational women’s words that have the power to challenge, inspire, heal and speak to the silenced aspects of ourselves.

We share powerful new voices with new visionary ideas, empowering our readers to actively co-create cultures that value and support the female and feminine. This to us is deeply exciting and powerful work. We fully believe that values are not meant to be dry words, but juicy actions, lived out. Books are not meant to be mere paper, but the means of transporting ideas from place to place. Business is not just a way of getting rich at the expense of others, but a way to consciously change the world, one transaction at a time.
