THE BIG INTERVIEW: Brian Dunphy - The High Kings
Meet Skerries' new famous resident. He's a world-touring member of Irish folk supergroup The High Kings and son of showband singer Sean Dunphy who represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 and came second to Sandie Shaw's Puppet On A String.
Brian Dunphy got his start as the lead singer in Riverdance: The Show, on New York's Broadway before joining the Three Irish Tenors and touring the States. For the last 18 years he has toured almost constantly with the High Kings. Their first two albums went platinum, their latest, 8th studio album went to No.2 in the charts. Now they're on the soundtrack album of 'Sinners' and their 'Rocky Road To Dublin' has become a viral Tik Tok dance sensation. We talk to Brian on a rare trip home…

STOOPS WINS BEST SEAFOOD - AGAIN
One of Skerries' favourite seafood restaurants has just received national recognition with Stoop Your Head having just recently been named Best Seafood Restaurant in Ireland at The Food Awards Ireland 2025.
It's the second year in a row they've earned the prestigious title and the award is a testament to the dedication of the entire team, including 10 kitchen staff and all the bar staff.
On the night, chefs Nichola Seaver, Clodagh Kenny, and Sintija Buzinska proudly represented Stoops.
Speaking to Skerries News: Nichola said, “We were absolutely thrilled to receive the recognition. It’s nice to be rewarded — it’s a tough job.”
Nichola also praised their fish supplier, Emmet Dillon of Dillons Seafoods, who delivers fresh seafood daily. Emmet is not only renowned for the quality of his seafood, but also serves as Skerries’ Fire Chief....

FAMILY EQUALITY DAY at St Patricks JNS
Ms Kelly's First Class in St Patrick's JNS were delighted to come third place in Ireland in the 'Different Families Same Love' competition run by the INTO LGBT+ Teachers' Group.
To mark International Family Equality Day (IFED) and International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) teachers were invited to take action in their classrooms between the 4th and 17th of May to celebrate the diversity of people and families in Ireland and to address and prevent homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in schools.
