In May, Seth, from Ōtaki in Māoriland - the New Zealand equivalent of a Gaeltacht - was in Ireland attending Telegael (Connemara), Studio Meala (Roscommon), and Little Moon Animation (Dublin) to shadow and observe Irish language content creation in a professional setting.

Funding schemes supporting indigenous language film production are on the rise, and streaming services now carry larger numbers of non-English language programming. Ireland has not been unaffected by this industrial shift, as witnessed by the success of CRÁ, Kneecap, and the Oscar-nominated An Cailín Ciúin. The Exchange now positions animation as a medium, making its own linguistic leap forward, with Irish and Te Reo Māori in the vanguard.

Animation Exchange 2025 is a new animation programme supported by Galway City of Film/Ceantar Scannán, Ardán, TG4, and Údarás na Gaeltachta in Ireland, and Wellington City of Film, Screen Wellington and Māoriland in New Zealand.

The success of the exchange continues to be spotlighted in France this June at the Annecy Animation Film Festival and then in Paris on the Showcase Stage at the UNESCO Creative Cities AGM.

Following the success of their cherished franchise “The Jungle Book," which has captured the hearts of millions of children and families worldwide, PowerKids Entertainment is poised to elevate children's entertainment once again and is elated to announce its collaboration with global partners to co-produce a brand-new show - "Adventures of Akira & Mowgli", the highly anticipated spin-off of the "The Jungle Book" series.

The show is currently in fast-paced production, with a tentative completion date by the end of 2025. In anticipation of strong interest from broadcasters, we plan to initiate our pre-sales during Annecy market 🇫🇷

In this major announcement, PowerKids reveals partnerships with industry leaders beIN MEDIA GROUP, DeAPlaneta Entertainment, Telegael, Twelve P Animation, and Wall Peep to co-produce this unique series. Big win for Irish-language drama Crá at Gradaim RTS Ireland 2025 🏆

The gripping six-part crime series took home the award for Best Scripted last night.

Produced by Fíbín Media and Zoogon LTD Ltd for BBC Gaeilge and TG4, Crá was made with support from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, Gréasán na Meán Skillnet, and About Premium Content (APC).
