Opposing action against Hi**er and the N***s then - or Iran and the mullahs now - are both calls to appease tyranny, which never ends well. History repeats its harsh lessons when we ignore them.

During a recent panel discussion at the Middle East Forum policy conference, I addressed a topic that might seem counterintuitive at first glance - the influence of Western intellectual thought on jihadism. My point explored the ideological convergence between three sociological "Godfathers" – Marx, Gramsci, and Fanon – and radical groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.

I was honored to be a faculty sponsor and speaker at the first American unveiling of Hooman Khalili's "Woman Life Freedom" mural at Rice University. This breathtaking artwork, now prominently displayed outside the Multicultural Center, is a powerful statement on interfaith solidarity and the enduring fight for global human rights. It honors Shirel Haim-Pour, who died defending Israel on October 7th, and Mahsa Amini, who tragically died in Iranian police custody for not wearing the hijab. The overarching symbol, Queen Esther, the Jewish Queen of Persian who saved the Jewish people from annihilation, reminds us of courage and resilience. The event saw over 100 attendees. I am looking forward to serving as an ambassador for this impactful project in the future. You can read my speech here.

Note – Recently, I had the honor of speaking at the American unveiling of Hooman Khalili’s powerful “Woman Life Freedom” mural at Rice University. Below is the speech I deli…

81 years ago today, the beaches of Normandy bore witness to a critical moment in history. It was not merely a military operation. It was a struggle between evil (N***sm and fascism) and the Allied forces fighting for freedom and human dignity.

The spiritual dimensions of D-Day are clear to me, as the moment addressed key questions regarding morality, justice, and the worth of human life. Today, we honor the men who gave everything – their courage, their sacrifice, their very lives – for the freedoms we cherish today. Their heroism will forever be etched in history.

I am excited to announce that tomorrow, June 5th, Rice University will host the unveiling of Hooman Khalili's impactful mural, "Woman Life Freedom," and I am proud to be one of the faculty sponsors alongside Professor Moshe Vardi.

This powerful artwork, which Khalili previously unveiled at the Jerusalem Museum of Tolerance, is a homage to the biblical friendship of Iran and Israel. It specifically honors two women - Shirel Haim-Pour, a 20-year-old Persian-Jewish soldier tragically killed during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks, and Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman from Iran who died in police custody in 2022.

Khalili’s "Woman Life Freedom" mural, a title mirroring the women-led movement for women's rights in Iran, aims to draw attention to modern-day "superhero" women and girls in Iran and Israel, inspiring them to keep fighting. He also deeply hopes this piece can "rebuild the bridge" between Israel and Iran.

The mural, formed from over 14,000 mosaic tiles, incorporates biblical verses that bridge sacred texts with modern calls for justice, uniting individuals across the Middle East and America.

The mural has been endorsed by the State of Israel and comes to Rice after being rejected by some Christian universities due to nervousness about anti-war protests. This installation is particularly significant in Houston, a diverse metro area home to large Jewish and Iranian communities, especially amidst recent pro-Palestine protests.

We invite everyone to join us for this "call to conscience" event tomorrow at 4 p.m. on Rice University's campus.

Hooman Khalili will unveil his mural celebrating Iranian women and bridging the biblical friendship of Iran and Israel at the Houston campus.

I hope this gains momentum in Congress.

Senator Cruz emphasizes that the MB uses political violence to achieve political ends and destabilize America, as well as its allies. He also notes that it provides a radical ideological infrastructure for violent groups.

This would be strongly supported by key Arab allies like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, who already recognize the MB as a purveyor of extremism.

My next book will tackle these issues, and much more.

I am excited to be one of two faculty sponsors bringing the powerful "Woman Life Freedom" mural, created by Iranian-American filmmaker and activist Hooman Khalili, to Rice University.

This historic piece, which captured global attention at the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem (as seen in the video), will be the first installation of its kind on a U.S. college campus. There are currently 18 of these murals installed across Israel.

The mosaic mural is formed from over 14,000 mosaic tiles to honor two women whose stories have become global symbols of resistance and resilience.

Shirel Haim-Pour, a 20-year-old female Persian-Jewish soldier, was killed during the October 7 Hamas attacks. Her image represents the 1,200 lives lost and 240 hostages taken that day.

Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian, died in police custody in 2022. Her death sparked mass protests against Iran's regime. Mahsa's portrait stands for the more than 1,000 lives lost in the fight for women's rights in Iran.

Interwoven into the mosaic are verses from Jeremiah 3:17 and Jeremiah 49:38, biblical passages that mention God placing His throne in Jerusalem and Iran (known in Jeremiah's day as "Elam"), bridging sacred texts with modern calls for justice - all while uniting individuals across the Middle East and America in a practical way.

The movement, formally endorsed by the State of Israel, serves as a "bridge between cultures" in its U.S. expansion, where college campuses have become epicenters for debates about free speech, human rights, and antisemitism.

"This isn't just about art. It's a call to conscience," said Khalili. "These murals are monuments to truth, courage, and the sacred right to be free. It's also an effort to galvanize student activism and global solidarity for the women of Iran."

The installation at Rice University marks the beginning of the "Woman Life Freedom" tour across the United States. Join us for the unveiling on June 5, 2025 (4:00 PM), at Rice Memorial Center's Grand Hall.
