Grace, Unfiltered. 🌊📸
On this day in 1955, Grace Kelly appeared on the cover of Collier’s magazine in one of her most iconic portraits—captured by photographer Howell Conant during a private getaway in Jamaica.

With wet hair, sun-kissed skin, and no makeup, this image marked a turning point in celebrity photography. It was one of the first to portray a Hollywood star so naturally, redefining the public’s idea of glamour with authenticity and quiet confidence.

A moment. A muse. A new kind of beauty.

A princely homecoming. 🇮🇪✨
In June of 1961, Princess Grace returned to her ancestral roots during a state visit to Ireland with H.S.H. Prince Rainier III. The trip was marked by heartfelt celebrations—bonfires lit in her honor, the song "Kelly, the Boy from Killann" sung with pride, and warm welcomes across schools, hospitals, and farms.

A graceful tribute to heritage, history, and home.

Picture perfect, indeed. 📸

In 1955, Grace Kelly was photographed by the legendary Erwin Blumenfeld for the cover of Cosmopolitan, accompanying an article titled “The Genteel Miss Kelly” by Joe McCarthy. Wearing a soft, sweeping Oleg Cassini gown — the same she wore to the 1954 Golden Globes when she won Best Actress for "The Country Girl" — Grace radiated the quiet poise and polished charm that defined her.

By then, she had already appeared on more than 400 magazine covers worldwide, making her one of the most photographed women of her era. And under Blumenfeld’s lens — known for his iconic work with Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Life — Grace was the very picture of timeless elegance.

📚✨ Honoring Irish literary brilliance this 🇮🇪📖

On October 5th, 2002, in the heart of Monte Carlo at the , Colum McCann—Dublin-born, New York-based wordsmith—was awarded the first-ever Princess Grace Memorial Literary Award, a €15,000 prize created to mark the 20th anniversary of Princess Grace’s passing. The prize was presented by the Princess Grace Irish Library under the aegis of the Princesse Grace Fondation de Monaco.

From "Songdogs" to "This Side of Brightness," McCann’s storytelling bridges continents and human hearts. His powerful 2000 collection "Everything in This Country Must"—set during the Northern Irish Troubles—was named Irish Book of the Year and remains hauntingly relevant today.

A Pushcart, two Hennessys, a Rooney Prize… and still, his truest gift is how he gives voice to the overlooked, the silenced, the struggling.

Here’s to stories that heal and writers who dare to tell them. 💚
