This week on Give a pet a home with Kilcoole Vets we speak to Eva from Ash Animal Rescue to try and find a loving home for Pops 🐾 🥰

Meet Pops
Pops is a 1-2yr old jack russell type who was surrendered to us recently after being abandoned in a rental property (Along with Coco, also looking for a separate home). How could you resist that mischievous grin! 😁

Pops is a typical terrier, full of fun and always looking for his next adventure. He loves going for walks and is a firm favourite among our volunteers. He equally loves playing with a ball.

Pops is looking for a home where he is the only pet, he'd rather not share with another dog and cats are too much of a temptation to chase! He hasn't previously lived with children, but we'd be happy for him to go to a home with sensible children over the age of 10.

This week on give a pet a home with Kilcoole Vets, we speak to Alex from Wicklow Animal Welfare to try and find a loving home for Rex 🐾 🏡 ♥️

This is Rex. He’s just happy to be here. Rex is the most smiley, happy boy. He is a lab rottie x so a big boy but a softie who loves nothing more than a chase, a toy and a scratch. Rex is 3 and has been great with the dogs at rescue and loves everyone he’s met.

As a bigger breed dog this boy will need a home committed to structure and training. Someone with big breed experience would be great. Rex will need a secure garden, can live with or without another dog but one who doesn’t mind a playful friend around. Kids teen plus.

Meet Bob!

Bob is a 4 year old cocker spaniel x poodle (visually more "cocka" than "poo"!) who was surrendered to us recently and is looking for a home.

He's a bubbly character and gets on well with people and other dogs, regularly sharing an exercise run with another friendly dog. He loves his walks and is always up for an adventure! The only thing he loves more than a walk, is a ball ⚾

Bob hasn't lived with children previously but we'd have no reservations placing him in a home with children over 10 - he may be a bit bouncy for little ones! He can live with another dog but chases cats unfortunately.

This week on Give a pet a home we speak to Sandra from Milo’s Mission Rescue to try and find a loving home for Kaiser 🏡 🐾 ❤️

Kaiser is a playful pup. Has been learning a lot about gentle play as can be boisterous and mouthy during play time. He has learned a lot of commands; sit, down, stay, middle, turn, look,place. All of these are great in doors but needs continuous training outdoors. Can get frustrated and bored during training so keep short and end with a game. He is very intelligent so mix things up. At the end I usually say Ready in a singsong way and throw a treat one way and say go, he will come back to you and throw tear in the other direction. Do this for a couple of minutes. Very high prey drive and distracted outside on walks. We have been training Let’s go. Kaiser can get over stimulated very quickly. Keep people and dog interactions short and sweet. Notice when he is getting over aroused and move on. Nearly 4 weeks of basic training done with professional. Has attended puppy play dates in a rescue centre(dspca) to help with socialisation.
Kaiser lives to curl up on the couch after dinner for the whole evening. He does not guard food. Did guard his things at the begin but once he knows you’re not taking it away he relaxes. Loves loves loves food! Can get barky at times when waiting on his food but stays in his Place. Toilet and crate trained. Needs forced naps throughout the day in his crate to manage his over stimulation. A beautiful looking boy who loves a good run and chasing rabbits in his dreams.

This week on Give a pet a home with Kilcoole Vets we speak to Alex Wicklow Animal Welfare to try and find a home for these beauties 🏡 🐾 ❤️

Thor and Millie and a bonded collie pair. These two are 7 years old and have lived their lives together so we want to find them a home with each other. As middle aged collies they have the lovely collie temperament without the mad young collie energy. They will still need an active, structured home but they are gentle, lovely dogs who would do great in most homes.

Thor has partial sight so Millie helps him navigate around. We’d like these two homed together in a home with a secure garden. They are good with other dogs. Kids teen plus.

The reality of buying dogs:

Bawn and Bunty are the dogs left behind in horrific conditions when you walk away with a pup.

These two have been with us months. They came in dumped after 6 years of making somebody else a fortune while suffering with no care.

We want Bunty and Bawn homed together as Bawn follows bunty around and they have come to rely on each other.

We need a home willing to give them time and patience to adjust to home life. They will never have been in a home before. Teen plus kids, a quiet home and a secure garden.

This week on Give a pet a home with Kilcoole Vets we speak to Sally from K.W.W.S.P.C.A.to try amd find a loving home for Lottie 🏡 🐾 ❤️

Lottie is a wonderful female Beagle Cross who is 8 years of age. She has lost her home due to unfortunate circumstances and now finds herself in a dog shelter. House-trained and good with cats, Lottie loves company and was used to being around young children in her previous home. However, we now think that all Lottie really wants is a quiet home where she is the only dog. She has had major dental treatment where she had most of her teeth removed so she likes soft food now. She walks well on her lead but can pull strongly if she wants to get to something so a capable adult is required. She is happy with regular short walks. Lottie will make a lovely companion pet but is not suited to a highly active home.

Lottie has been spayed, is microchipped 981098106414626, has been vaccinated and has received the usual preventative flea/worm treatments.
