A Donegal institution! I waited for a hot day to finally try Football Special

Bitta history: It was created by James McDaid in the 1960s for local football team Swilly Rovers, as a non-alcoholic alternative to beer that winning teams could drink from the cup. Very wholesome! Since then, it became loved all over the country and is still manufactured by the McDaid family!

And I regret to say, I had never tried it until today. Thanks for the

The first words, of the first page, of the first chapter of my very first book. Dreams come true, a chairde. 🥹

I’ll be spending the next few months trying to pour a lifetime of curiosity onto the pages.

I’ve always been a writer, even when I didn’t have any readers 😂 I've countless little notebooks full of half-finished thoughts and 2am idea scribbles. I remember being a teenager trying to figure out how I could somehow print my own book.

In fact, about 5 years ago, a tarot reader told me I had a book in me, which felt completely impossible at the time. Because really… how many writers actually get publishing deals and see their books sitting on shelves in bookshops?!

But it’s all thanks to you lot! For taking an interest in my interests. For watching the videos, listening to the stories and letting me ramble on about the details...

I genuinely can’t explain how surreal it feels to think I’ll get to hold something physical in my hands. Maybe someone will buy it for a mate’s birthday, maybe it’ll sit on a coffee table somewhere, maybe years from now I’ll spot a copy in a charity shop between a cookbook and a battered copy of Twilight...

It’s still a while away from hitting the shelves, but we're on the way! Tá sceitimíní orm!

More Dublin history… and this barely scratches the surface. I’ve already made a few videos on Blackrock, but the deeper I dig, the more stories seem to appear.

And stay tuned for the murder story mentioned in this video… involving a husband and wife pair of highway robbers who murdered a Blackrock reverend in his own bed, before later being hanged for the crime.

P.S. I notice loads of people who watch my videos don’t actually follow me. Which is fair enough - the algorithm does its job these days! But if you do enjoy the videos, throwing me a follow genuinely helps creators more than you’d think. So a follow would be so appreciated 😊👍

I just heard that is closing Fri. 15 June until the end of the year. So you have 4 weeks to get into town and visit 😊 Top tip: Take the lift up to the secret roof terrace on a sunny day - one of my favourite spots in Dublin.
