Much of tonight's Sunday Night features a mix of Jazz, Electronics and Classical including music by Enzo Favata, Sokratis Sinopolous and Yann Kerrin, Arve Henriksen’s recent release, and previously unreleased music by Jon Hassell. On the classical side of the house, I’ll take a selection from Daniil Trifonov’s contuining exploration of music that inspires him, a selecrtion from a new release of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, and to finish, a Bach Partita performed by Igor Levit.

Sunday Night returns to CRY 104FM after the summer break with new music from Andy Sheppard, a live performance from 2016 of "It’s a lonesome old town" performed in Rome by Keith Jarrett; a selection from Enzo Favata Quintet's new album “Ritornare” which features UT Gandhi whose untimely death last month was felt by very many people throughout the jazz and music world. On the Classical side of the house, music by Saint-Saens and the Tallis Scholars live performance of music by Komitas recorded in Venice.

Tonight's Sunday Night is the last Live Broadcast until 27th September 2026.

There's music by Miles Davis, Norma Winstone, Steve Swallow, Daniel Garcia and Arild Anderson (with Vassilis Tsabropoulos), whose uniquely beautiful take on Ravel bridges to music by Floating Points, "The Beatitudes" as performed by Kronos Quartet, and a selection from Andrew Litton's acclaimed 2012 recording (for Hyperion Records) of Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto.

And to finish for the summer, Keith Jarrett's recording of Shostakovich’s Prelude and Fugue no 13 in F Sharp Major.

It has been a real pleasure and an honour for me to have your company over these last 10 months here on Cry Youghal, and my thanks for your “accompaniement” on these journeys in beautiful music each Sunday night.

Music from Miles Davis as the jazz world marks his 100th Birthday; some choral music by Vasks (a new release) and Schnittke, and a Fauré Nocturne.
