Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya informed Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar that Tokyo will not support recognition of a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN General Assembly. Japan stressed that while it continues to deliberate on the timing and framework of recognition, it will not endorse such a move at this stage, citing ties with the U.S. and diplomatic concerns.

During the call, Sa’ar also outlined Israel’s positions on recent developments, including the strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, IDF operations in Gaza City, and the arrest of a West Bank cell manufacturing rockets.
