Issei - The European Legacy

Issei - The European Legacy European ideas will be shown to be the outcome of over four centuries of a continual cultural exchange between European nations.

ISSEI (International Society for the Study of European Ideas), and its journal, now called The European Legacy, seek to promote the study of Europe's cultural past and present. Special stress is laid on the inventive and creative aspects of the European mind in science, religion, philosophy, art, literature, sociology, politics, history, economics and psychology.

ISSEI’s 17th Conference in Berlin, 3-6 July 2023
“The Role of the Intellectual in Times of Turmoil: Ways of Looking at Europe’s Troubled Geist”
https://intellectualdiaspora.org/the-role-of-the-intellectual-in-times-of-turmoil_ways-of-looking-at-europe-s-troubled-geist/
The form of this conference differed from ISSEI’s previous 16 conferences in which there were many parallel workshops, and followed the Katholische Akademie’s form of international gatherings: a relatively small number of speakers (20) were invited to present their work on the conference theme. The papers presented sparked lively discussions and several of them will be published in a special issue of The European Legacy.
We would like to thank The Berlin Center for Intellectual Diaspora https://www.facebook.com/BerlinCenterforIntellectualDiaspora and the Katholische-Akademie in Berlin for their cooperation and outstanding organization of our 17th Conference. The venue, the accommodation, the food and refreshments, and above all the academic programme, warm reception and wonderful atmosphere were all excellent. Special thanks to Dr. Gesine Palmer, without whose stamina and dedication all this would not have been possible.
