Kerala reported a suspected case of Monkey Pox in the state on Wednesday.
According to state health minister Veena George, a foreign traveller who returned from the UAE is said to have monkeypox symptoms and has been hospitalised to a hospital in Kerala.
The National Institute of Virology in Pune has received the samples from the travellers for examination.
The minister refuses to provide any additional details regarding the patient or the location of his isolation. She continued by saying that the individual had monkeypox symptoms and had been in close touch with a monkeypox patient abroad.
The illness, unlike COVID-19, spreads primarily through close contact, thus treatment is symptomatic and there is no need to fear, according to Veena George.
