MDC Dhananjoy Tripura has urged authorities to take immediate steps to make the newly inaugurated Raishyabari I/S Office operational.

In a letter addressed to Chandra Kumar Jamatia, Executive Member of the Education and Tourism Departments, TTAADC, he stated that the office has remained non-functional since its inauguration on September 25, 2024, reportedly due to a shortage of staff.

The MDC said the delay has deprived local residents of essential administrative and welfare services. He requested the Executive Member to ensure the appointment of the required staff so that the office can begin functioning smoothly and serve the people of the area without further delay.

Meta is reportedly preparing premium subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, aiming to introduce additional features for creators, businesses and power users.

According to reports, the company may roll out services such as Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus with advanced tools and customization options. The premium features are expected to include enhanced analytics, profile customization, exclusive stickers and themes, advanced creator tools and additional business-focused features.

Following the reports, confusion spread widely across social media, with many users believing Meta was planning to make its platforms completely paid. However, there has been no announcement suggesting Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp will stop being free for regular users.

Industry observers say Meta’s strategy appears similar to platforms such as Telegram Premium, X Premium, Snapchat Plus and YouTube Premium, which offer optional paid features while continuing free access for general users.

Meta has not officially announced any plan to remove free access from its major platforms.

The Government of Tripura has announced that all Saturdays of every month will now be observed as government holidays.

The decision was issued through a notification by the General Administration (AR) Department on Sunday.

According to the notification, the new order supersedes the earlier notification dated June 23, 2017.

The state government stated that the move has been taken in line with the appeal made by the Prime Minister of India as an austerity measure aimed at reducing government expenditure.

The government has also revised office timings for state government offices. The new office hours will be from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM instead of the existing timing of 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. However, the official lunch break will remain unchanged from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

The notification further mentioned that these measures are expected to reduce electricity and fuel consumption in government offices through strict energy-saving practices.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that government office timings will be revised with immediate effect.

Under the new schedule, offices will operate from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, replacing the previous timing of 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The new office hours will be implemented immediately across government departments.

| A tragic incident of lightning strike claimed the lives of a brother and sister at Nabincherra village under Pecharthal RD Block on May 23, leaving the entire locality in deep shock and mourning.

According to local sources, the incident occurred during heavy rainfall when lightning reportedly struck the siblings’ house. Both of them sustained critical injuries while inside the home. Family members and local residents immediately rescued them and rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

However, despite medical efforts, doctors declared both siblings dead.

The heartbreaking incident has spread grief across Nabincherra and nearby areas, with local residents expressing sorrow over the sudden loss.

On May 24, Shri Ratish Tripura, MDC of 4-Karamcherra Constituency, along with Shri Hollywood Chakma, MDC of Manu-Chailengta Constituency, visited the bereaved family and expressed condolences over the tragic incident. They extended sympathy to the family members and prayed for strength for the grieving family during this difficult time.
