S2. EP 29 Room for More Art | | .designatelier

Room for More Art welcomes Manali Hirani, Founder of MHDA - Manali Hirani Design Atelier.

In this episode, she reflects on how art is never just a finishing element or a showpiece within a space. Instead, it becomes part of the narrative from the very beginning-growing alongside the design process itself.

For her, designing a space and visualising art within it are not separate decisions, but parallel layers of thought shaping the same story.
Watch the full episode to explore how interiors evolve when art and design are imagined together, because meaningful spaces are built through narratives, not decoration.

What if marble could hold flowers made entirely from stone?

Pacchikari, the stone inlay craft of Agra, turns marble into a surface for extraordinary precision. Tiny pieces of agate, turquoise, lapis lazuli and mother of pearl are hand-cut and fitted into stone, petal by petal, leaf by leaf.

The same craft seen on the walls of the Taj Mahal.

No paint.
No printing.
Just stone, shaped slowly enough to feel delicate.

Inspired by Mughal gardens and symmetry, Pacchikari sits somewhere between craft and architecture - where detail becomes timeless.
Would you bring craftsmanship like this into your space?

The recently concluded ART 800: MFA Final Thesis Show brought together the works of fourteen graduating artists—Athul Vinush M, Anjali Kumari, Arpa Poddar, Bhavana Parakh, Hrishima Desai, Kavana Badrinath, Nameera Irshad, Namratha N., Rija Kalita, Robin Rawat, Rutik Maruti Ubare, Sanaa Rajat Aggarwal, Shrishti Sharma, and Vipin Kumar Jangir—from the MFA Program (2024–26) at the Department of Art, Media and Performance, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence.

Emerging from two years of practice‑based research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary dialogue, the exhibition spanned painting, drawing, installation, photography, sound, moving image, performance, and computational arts. The artists engaged with contemporary social, political, ecological, and technological realities while straddling process, inquiry, and speculative thinking, reflecting the collaborative and research‑oriented environment of the program.

Held at the UAC, Shiv Nadar University Campus, NCR, from 08–17 May 2026, ART 800 marked a transitional moment between academic study and broader artistic practice, presenting a range of evolving contemporary voices shaped through collective learning, critique, and exchange.
