Gujarati cinema or Gujarati film industry, informally referred as Dhollywood , is one of the major regional and vernacular film industry of Cinema of India associated with Gujarati language. The industry dates back to 7 April 1932, when the first Gujarati film Narsinh Mehta was released. After flourishing through the 1960s to 1980s, the industry saw a decline. The industry is revived in recent tim

The Government announced 100% entertainment tax exemption for Gujarati films in 2005 and policy of incentives in 2016. This is just the beginning for the Gujarati film industry. For decades, even Guajarati's who live in Gujarat’s cities did not watch Gujarati films and as a result filmmakers failed to adopt new technologies. However, things have been changing for the last two or three years, especially after the success of New urban movies released within last two years. Nowadays The Gujarati film industry is growing strong and very quickly, and the producers and directors are passionate and enthusiastic when it comes to making and releasing films. Gujarati Iconic Film Awards 2016 is unique initiative by Quality Mark to promote Gujarati Film Industry based on various parameters.
