The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Food Department has instructed 11,123 restaurants and food businesses to install kitchen CCTV and display the LIVE feed at reception and near customer seating areas, giving customers a clearer view of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
The move comes after food-safety checks on August 19 found FSSAI violations, unhygienic conditions, pests and adulterated food materials at several establishments. Some were sealed, while AMC warned that serious or repeated violations could lead to licence cancellation and further action.
Restaurants have also been directed to follow proper hygiene, safe food storage, pest control, safe water and waste-disposal practices.
