HISTORY OF AJMER DARGAH
The shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty (R.A.) was built in 1232 AD after his taking leave from the material world. On the place where he used to worship, a shrine was build. Since centuries it has become a counter narrative of converting by sword and a centre of love, spirituality, peace and universal brotherhood. Khwaja Sahib (R.A.) also known as protector of the poor is one of the beloved of Allah Ta’la, HE intercedes on behalf of people and helps them find the true path to Allah Ta’la. This shrine is the centre of attraction for not only Muslims but many other religious followers. This shrine is a symbol of complementary otherness, symbolizing love itself as the law. Khwaja Moinuddin (R.A.) is perceived as the living spirit of love, peace and harmony, and is universally respected since HE put his foot on the Indian soil. The Dargah Ajmer is the centre of South Asian Sufi way of Islam starting with the Chishty order and many other orders branching out from it. According to Khwaja Sahib (R.A.) “He indeed is a true devotee blessed with the love of God, who is gifted with the following of these three attributes: River like charity, sun like affection and earth like hospitality.”
