|| Prof Adam Malik Khan Appointed Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, AMU

Prof. Adam Malik Khan of the Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed as Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies for a period beginning January 9, 2026, and extending up to May 10, 2028, the date of his superannuation.

Prof. Khan is a senior academic with more than 26 years of teaching and research experience at Aligarh Muslim University. An accomplished scholar, Prof Khan has published several books and research papers in reputed journals and edited volumes. His notable books include works on the development of sciences in Muslim Spain and Islam in Iran. He has also contributed extensively to academic journals in India and abroad and prepared study material for distance education programmes at AMU.

He has successfully supervised a large number of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers on diverse themes and guided a postdoctoral fellow under a UGC-funded programme for women researchers.

In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Khan has rendered extensive administrative and institutional service to the University. He has served as a Provost of a Hall of Residence, assistant proctor, and deputy proctor and has held key responsibilities related to examinations, admissions and university-level committees.

|| Appointment of Presidents for University Games Clubs۔

Prof. Naima Khatoon, the Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University has approved the appointment of Presidents for various clubs functioning under the University Games Committee.

The appointments have been made on the recommendation of the Secretary, University Games Committee.

According to the notification, Dr. Iftekhar Ahmad Ansari of the Department of Political Science has been appointed President of the Gymnasium Club

Prof. Iffat Asghar from the Department of Hindi will serve as President of the Gymkhana Club.

Dr. Asif Khan of the Department of Mathematics has been entrusted with the charge of Football Club President.

Prof. Fazal ur Rehman of the Department of Anatomy has been appointed President of the Swimming Club

Prof. Mohd. Masroor Alam from the Department of Civil Engineering will head the Hockey Club.

The appointments aim to strengthen the administration and promotion of sports activities across the university. The officials will hold the additional responsibility alongside their existing duties.

|| A late-night demolition drive was carried out by the municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) at an encroached site near Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid, close to Turkman Gate, in Delhi۔

Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the Urdu book ‘Khutbat-e-Modi’ by the National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).

He described it as a meaningful initiative to connect citizens with the vision and aspirations of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that the book brings together the Prime Minister’s Independence Day addresses from 2014 to 2025, reflecting key themes such as Antyodaya, welfare of the poor, Swachh Bharat, and the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.

He emphasised that such publications play an important role in promoting wider public engagement with the ideas and goals of a developed India, and called for the book to reach libraries across the country.

He also encouraged NCPUL to further promote publications in Urdu on India’s heritage, culture, lifestyle, and rich academic traditions.

‏قومی کونسل برائے فروغ اردوزبان (این سی پی یو ایل) کے ذریعہ اردو زبان میں شائع شدہ کتاب ’خطباتِ مودی‘ کی رونمائی کرنے کا مبارک موقع ملا۔ یہ کتاب 2014 سے لے کر 2025 تک یوم آزادی کے موقع پر لال قلعہ کی فصیل سے عزت مآب وزیر اعظم نریندر مودی جی کے ذریعہ کی گئی تقاریر کا مجموعہ ہے۔

وزیر اعظم کے خطاب میں انتودیہ، غریبوں کی فلاح و بہبود، سووچھ بھارت، 140 کروڑ باشندگان وطن کی امنگوں اور ملک کے لیے متعدد اہم موضوعات کا ذکر ہوتا ہے، ایسی کتابیں شہریوں کو ملک کی امنگوں، اہداف اور وزیراعظم کے خیالات سے جوڑنے کا مضبوط وسیلہ ہیں۔

یہ کتاب ملک کی ہر لائبریری میں پہنچے، زیادہ سے زیادہ لوگ اسے پڑھیں تاکہ وکست بھارت سے متعلق سماج میں وسیع پیمانے پر تبادلۂ خیال ہو۔ بھارت کی وراثت، ثقافت، طرززندگی اور ہماری خوشحال علمی روایت سے جڑے موضوعات کی اشاعت بھی اردو زبان میں وسیع پیمانے پر ہو، اس کی ذمہ داری بھی این سی پی یو ایل کو لینی چاہئے۔

’خطباتِ مودی‘ جیسے قابل ستائش اقدام کے لیے این سی پی یو ایل کو دلی مبارک باد اور نیک خواہشات۔
