SUBJECT:--Students Of AU demand End of Uncertainty Around Exams and General Promotion to Students without Exams.
Sir,
The academic year has been disrupted due to the unprecedented nationwide lockdown to contain the pandemic of corona. With delayed academic calendar and the incomplete course-work it does not seems to be an appropriate call for the examination.
In these difficult times hosting any examination will add to the vulnerability of COVID-19, as the students might be joining from various areas which are contaminated and more importantly they may be exposed to public transportation which can play a major role in community transmission.
The conditions of hostels in which the students of AU reside are not hidden from the officials as well as every other visitors ,having a common place to fill water and all other such activities , the mess which provides the food and the people who cook for students these are the one of many areas that need a special attention and some serious watch.
The accomodation of students is another concern for them as Hostels are stuffed to full capacity forcing the students to rent rooms as paying guests ,most of the students are forced live in delegacies and as the lockdown progressed most of them have vacated their rooms and landlords have shut their doors for every outsiders as it would pose a threat of transmission.
The University Campus equally lacks to provide the very basic needs in water coolers, parkings, and a clean campus which cannot be overseen in these times of panademic. A call for examination might be unpleasant and might bring such other evils which could be difficult to combat without any proper counter measures. And as we have seen the recent case of JNU where, despite of abundance in facilities and infrastructure the transmission has worsened virtually forcing the government to lock the entire campus and also HRD minister in a press conference said not to open schools and colleges till 15 August.
In support of these demands more than 1000 students have raised their voices and signed the petition online. We have attached the link of the petition of the students in support.
In these difficult times, if any student is infected or falls sick due to any reason, will the University Administration take the accountility and if not then this uncertainty must come to an end and the University administration must declare its stand and lift the veil of uncertainty.
So, I request you to please promote the students based on previous academic records or on the basis of internal evaluation based on the projects and assignments.If AU does not promote us, we will be forced to boycott exams.
