That said, this has drawn sharp criticism too. Commentators have pointed out that on December 22, 2025, he argued dedicated SC/ST schools would perpetuate rather than annihilate caste, a stance critics say reflects a limited understanding of how caste functions as social capital benefiting dominant groups.
Others note the irony that his own political rise and electoral choices, like contesting from Pithapuram, were closely tied to Kapu caste arithmetic, even as he now urges society to move past caste.
