The story of the incomplete shiva temple made by pandavas.
Namaste,
Lord Shiva is among the most worshipped gods, with several temples devoted to him. Other than the Jyotirlingas. There are hundreds upon thousands of temples devoted to him around the world, not just in India.
Surprisingly, every temple has an occult or very interesting story to tell. One such temple can be seen in Ambernath, near Mumbai. Ambereshwar Shiva Temple is another name for this temple.
This temple has a Pandava-related history. During their exile (Agyatvaas), the Pandavas built the temple. And the entire temple was constructed in a single night. Yes, it was only one night, not even a whole day. And the temple is incomplete.
According to legend, Duryodhana discovered their whereabouts and dispatched scouts to find the Pandavas. When the Pandavas discovered this, they abandoned the temple unfinished.
The garbhgruh's (where the primary idol is kept) head is missing. As a result, it is one of the unfinished Shiva temples.
There are three mandapa (the portico that leads to the garbhagriha) on the temple. This is also rather unique in temples. If you've ever been to a Shiva temple, you've undoubtedly seen or discovered that there is always a NANDI MAHARAJ' statue facing the Lord Shiva.
One of the most startling aspects of the temple is the presence of two statues of NANDI MAHARAJ (the Bull) at the temple's main door.
If you ever get a chance to visit somewhere near, Ambernath, make sure to visit this temple.
