Numan Chowdhary greets people on Eid ul Fitr

Anantnag, 02 May:
Human Rights and Anti- Corruption Form Madia Incharge JK Numan Chowdhary Monday greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul Fitr and prayed for wellbeing of the people.

Numan Chowdhary in a statement issued to Kashmir Edgh said that the festival of Eid is a unique and special occasion leading the mankind at the path of peace, harmony and truthfulness.

Festival will continue to be the integral part of our lives providing the opportunities to intermingle and exchange ideas with each other, Mir said, adding that Eid Ul Fitr is reward from Almighty to people especially those who observe fast in the holy month to seeks mercy and forgiveness from Him.

Let the occasion usher in an era of complete peace and inclusive development of JK State, praying for well being of the people, Numan Chowdhary added and hoped that Eid Ul Fitr will bring the smile on the faces of people especially poor and needy.

*Missing man found dead in Anantnag*

An official told news agency, Kashmir News Observer that the body was spotted by local residents and informed the police accordingly.

He identified deceased as Mohd Shafi Awan, a resident of Anantnag district who was missing from past one week.

Police have registered the case and investigation is on.

*Cop among two arrested in Drug peddling in Budgam: Police*

Srinagar, 26 April:
Police on Tuesday said that they have arrested two drug peddlers including a cop in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, budgam police have arrested two drug peddlers recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.

The spokesperson said that during patrolling at Nagam-Hayatpora road police party of Police Station Chadoora intercepted a vehicle (Alto-800) bearing registration number JKO4E-9628 with two persons on board.They have been identified as Mohammad Ayoub Beigh son of Mohammad Jamal Beigh resident of Nowhar Chadoora & Nazir Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammad Shafi Shiekh resident of Tangnar Chadoora. During search, 69 Kgs of Poppy Straw and cash amount of ₹55000/= were recovered from their possession.They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.69/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation set into motion, he said.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace, reads the statement.

Sarpanch Killed, three others injured in accident near Pattan

Srinagar, 25 April:
A Sarpanch from Kupwara was killed and three others were injured when a bus carrying PRIs met with an accident near Renzi Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

Official sources told that SRTC bus carrying PRIs had a headon collision with a tipper vehicle near Renzi Tappar Pattan, leading to the death of one of them identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Samad Bhat from Gulgam Kupwara and injuries to three others whose identification was awaited.

The injured have been removed to hospital, they said.

According to CNS on Yesterday Evening Grid Station Pattan has received Minor Damages due to Lighting Struck. however Fire & Emergency Department Reached on Spot and Controlled the fire in time.

Bukhari appreciates Modi’s promise to J&K youth

‘Our youth have suffered a lot and they deserve prosperity and opportunities’

Srinagar April 24: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise that he will bring prosperity to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister was in Pali village of Samba in Jammu, on Sunday, where he participated in the celebration of the National Panchayati Raj Day and addressed ‘Gram Sabhas’ across the country. In his message to youth of J&K, Prime Minister said that they will not see the miseries that their parents and grandparents have seen in the past.

Bukhari while appreciating Prime Minister’s assurance has said that he hopes the follow-up initiatives would be taken to realize PM’s commitment to the youth. He said, “Prime Minister's words about the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are heart-warming. And, I am sure his commitment will be fulfilled with the required steps immediately.

Bukhari further said that the young population of UT is presently grappling with problems like unemployment and an inadequate environment in terms of job opportunities. The government must take the needed initiatives to ensure new opportunities are thrown open for the people of J&K, especially the youth.

He said that the people of Kashmir have suffered tremendously during the past several decades. But the new generation should see a new era of prosperity and development.

Apni Party President also appreciated the Prime Minister's vision for the developmental projects. He said that Prime Minister has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore today, these projects and schemes would eventually benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

South Kashmir: Gunfight breaks out in Pulwama

Srinagar, 24 April:
Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Pahoo area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday..

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Pahoo.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.(GNS)
