GMC Jammu Orders Emergency Faculty Deployment After Violence on Doctors

Jammu, July 16 (JKNS): Following an incident of violence against doctors in the Emergency Ward of Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu, junior doctors deployed in the unit have gone on a flash strike, prompting urgent administrative measures to maintain patient care.

According to an official order issued by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, and accessed by news agency JKNS, all Clinical and Para-clinical Heads of Departments (HoDs) have been instructed to ensure the deployment of faculty members and consultants in the Emergency Ward until the junior doctors resume duty.

"In the interest of patient care," the order reads, "all HoDs are impressed upon to ensure emergency rosters are maintained by their departments."

The order highlights the hospital administration’s swift response to prevent disruption in emergency services, following the reported act of violence that triggered the strike. The situation remains under close monitoring. (JKNS)

A French court on Thursday ordered the Nice city mayor to remove Israeli flags from the town hall, Anadolu reports.

"Following the referral by private individuals, the interim relief judge of the Administrative Court of Nice suspended the mayor’s refusal to remove the Israeli flags hoisted on the town hall’s facade and ordered him to remove them within five days," the statement from the court said.

The court ruled that the display of the flag cannot be viewed solely as a "symbol of support for Israeli hostages held by Hamas" but also as "support for the Israeli state and thus as an expression of political opinion."

Following the ruling, Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice, the second-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast, removed the flags he had been flying since 7 Oct. 2023, according to French daily Le Figaro.
