*Zero Tolerance Against Drugs: Anantnag Police Slaps PIT-NDPS on Notorious Peddler*

Anantnag, September 16, 2026:Continuing its sustained crackdown on the drug menace, Anantnag Police has booked a notorious drug peddler, Khursheed Ahmad Rather S/o Gul Mohd Rather R/o Waghama, Bijbehara, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.

The accused has been identified as a repeated drug offender involved in activities related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. In view of his continued involvement in drug-related activities and to prevent further illicit trafficking, the competent authority ordered his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Following the detention order, Khursheed Ahmad Rather has been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah, as per law.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent action against drug traffickers and repeat offenders and to further strengthening the ongoing campaign for a Drug-Free Anantnag.

Kulgam Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers, Including a Lady Drug Peddler, Recover 190.5 Grams of He**in-Like Substance

Kulgam, 16.09.2026:

Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking, Kulgam Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers, including a lady drug peddler, in two separate actions and recovered a total of 190.5 grams of heroin-like substance.

In the first action, during dynamic naka checking at Upper Market Qazigund near Town Hall, a woman found roaming under suspicious circumstances was apprehended by the police party. During the search of her bag, 20.5 grams of He**in-like substance, packed in a black polythene envelope, was recovered.

The woman has been identified identity as Aqsa Bashir D/O Bashir Ahmad Dar, R/O Hardpora Akinpora, Anantnag. Accordingly, FIR No. 221/2026 under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation taken up.

In another action, a dynamic naka was established near the North Portal of Navyug Tunnel, where the naka party of PP Navyug Tunnel intercepted a silver-coloured Swift Dzire bearing registration No. JK09E-9019.

During checking, 170 grams of He**in was recovered from the possession of the two occupants, namely Imran Mir S/O Mohd Akram Mir and Muhbat Dar S/O Maqsood Ahmed Dar, both residents of Karnah, Kupwara.

Both were arrested and FIR No. 222/2026 under Sections 8/21/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Qazigund. Investigation has been taken up to establish the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved.

SSP Kulgam, stated that Kulgam Police will continue its sustained drive against drug trafficking and take stringent legal action against those involved. He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly share information regarding drug trafficking with Police.The identity of informants will be kept confidential.

*September 15:* ```Continuing its sustained efforts to curb the menace of drug abuse and illegal substances, J&K Police in Shopian has arrested two persons in separate operations and recovered contraband substances and liquor bottles from their possession.

During routine naka checking at Bongam, a police party from Police Station Shopian noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. During his search, 21 liquor bottles were recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Manthan Nitesh son of Nitesh resident of Maharashtra presently residing at Alyalpora Shopian. Accordingly, FIR No. 194/2026 under the relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and establish the forward and backward linkages.

In another action, a police party from Police Post Turkwangam during routine naka checking at Darazpora near SIDCO Bridge, apprehended another person. During his search, approximately 112 grams of a charas powder like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Faisal Rahid Bhat son of Ab Rashid Bhat resident of Sansamil Pulwama. In this connection, FIR No. 122/2026.under the relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the contraband and establish its forward and backward linkages.

Police remains firmly committed to its mission of creating a drug-free society and appeals to the general public to extend their cooperation by sharing any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse in their localities. Citizens can report such activities to the nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.```

Kulgam Police Arrests Drug Peddler, 106 Grams of Charas-Like Substance Recovered

Kulgam, 14 September 2026: During a dynamic naka at YK Pora near the bridge, a police party of Police Station Qazigund noticed a suspicious individual carrying a small black leather bag.

On noticing the police party, the individual attempted to conceal himself but was tactfully apprehended. During the search of his bag, 09 sticks of charas-like substance weighing approximately 106 grams were recovered.

The accused has been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Itoo, son of Abdul Hameed Itoo, resident of Sonigam, Kulgam.

In this connection, FIR No. 220/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and investigation has been initiated.

Kulgam Police reiterates its commitment to curbing the menace of drug abuse and trafficking and appeals to the general public to share information regarding drug-related activities with the Police.
