Powerful Earthquake Hits Western Colombia Toll Rises to 111 Dozens Inju_red
Colombia August 11/2026//
At least 111 people have been kil_led and dozens inj_ured following a powerful earthquake that struck western Colombia.
According to local authorities the earthquake has caused extensive loss of life and property damage. Rescue opera_tions are underway in the affected areas.
According to the US Geological Survey, the 7.4_magnitude earthquake struck Colombia’s Chocó province on Monday at 07:34 at a depth of 107 kilometres (66 miles).
The tremors were felt across several parts of Colombia as well as in neighbouring countries including Venezuela Ecuador and Panama.
Several buildings have collapsed following the earthquake while many people are feared trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams are working in the affected areas to evacuate those trapped and rescue opera_tions are continuing at a rapid pace.
The devastating earthquake comes less than two months after two powerful earthquakes struck Vene_zuela and caused severe damage across several areas of the country. The two earthquakes resulted in the de_aths of more than 6,100 people.

BJP Anantnag suspends 9 functionaries over derogatory remarks during Tiranga rally

The BJP District Unit Anantnag has initiated disciplinary action against 9 office bearers for their alleged involvement in an unauthorised Tiranga Rally held at Housing Colony Khanabal on August 5.

In an office order issued by District President Rakesh Koul, the party stated that the rally was neither organised nor authorised by BJP Anantnag and had not obtained the required permission from the district administration. The party also took serious note of alleged objectionable and derogatory remarks made during the event.

Following consultations with senior BJP leaders and the district core committee, the party removed the concerned office bearers from their organisational posts and suspended their primary membership with immediate effect, pending further inquiry.

Flash flo_ods trigg_ered by heavy rainfall hit Hardass and Tumail villages in Kargil district causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting normal life in the affected areas.
