Residents of Kulgad Achabal Anantnag appeal Lt Governor of J&K to widen the Anantnag Kishtiwar Road on both sides equally*

Anantnag,29 May:

Residents of Kulgad Achabal of Anantnag District appeal Lt Governor to seek address of their grievance of NH Anantnag Kishtiwar near Kulgad Achabal .
Residents told that in 2007 road was developed as National Highway and land had to be taken equally from both sides but some influential people are using their approach to violate the rule and divert the same to one side in order to protect their land on the other side.
While as farmers have already surrendered their land that comes in 50 feet but it is irony that NH authorities are not following the rule and allow white color people to exercise their powers illegally.
Authorities are requested to take strict action against the culprits in order develop this road without any corruption.
Farmers have already complained before higher authorities especially governor administration to look into the matter and start impartial enquiry.

Traffic route Plan in connection with celebration of Meraj-ul-Alam notified
=>To ensure smooth movement of traffic in Srinagar city on the eve of Meraj-ul-Alam, the Traffic Police, Srinagar issued traffic plan for all types of vehicles carrying devotees from different destinations.
Vehicles including passenger vehicles carrying devotees shall adopt following routes from Lal Chowk Srinagar to Holy Shrine Hazratbal.Lal Chowk - SRTC Bridge - Ikhwan Crossing - Police Station Khanyar-Bohri Kadal-Rajouri Kadal-Gojwara Chowk-Hawal-Shree Bhat-Bagh-i-Ali Mardan-Lal Bazar-Dargah Hazratbal.
The vehicles carrying devotees of North Kashmir i.e. Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara, Bandipora andBudgam shall adopt following routes.Bemina - Bye Pass - Toto Ground – Qamarwari - Cement Bridge-Noor Bagh-Sakidafar-Sazgaripora-Hawal-Alamgari Bazar-Lal Bazar-Dargah Hazratbal.
The vehicles carrying devotees from South Kashmir Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Awantipora towards Dargah Hazratbal shall adopt the following routes.Pantha Chowk - Sonwar Bazar - Gupkar Grand Palace - Nishat-Foreshore Habak-Dargah Hazratbal.

All vehicles carrying devotees shall adopt on the return from Dargah Hazratbal Shrine, the routes NIT-Ashai Bagh Crossing-Rainawari-Khalifapora-Nowpora Bridge-Khayam Chowk (Right)-Ikhwan Crossing-SRTC Crossing.
The North bound vehicles shall take left turn at SRTC Crossing along Moulana Azad Bridge Dalgate towards Pantha Chowk. However, the vehicles bound for North Kashmir will be diverted at Khalifapora towards Peer Dastigeer Sahib Khanyar-Sumkachbal-Police Station Khanyar-NalamarRoad-Qamarwari for the respective destinations.
The vehicles carrying devotees from Harwan and adjacent areas may adopt the Dal Foreshore road and devotees arriving from Kangan and Ganderbal areas shall de board near Naseem Baghand take the same route back.
Moreover, the vehicles carrying people from Anantnag, Pulwama-Shopianand its adjacent areas shall adopted Dal Foreshore route.
The vehicles shall enter inside Naseem Bagh Campus, Engineering College (NIT), in front of Traffic Camp (officials vehicles only) and shall remain parked in the area of University Campus near Convocation Hall.

Dr Farooq dismisses demand to curtail Amaranth Yatra's duration
=>Dismissing the demand by separatists to curtail the duration of Amarnath Yatra, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah today said the pilgrimage should continue to be of two months as it was notonly religiously important but also served as a source of livelihood for many.
"The pilgrimage must take place for two months. Not only will people be able to have proper darshan but there are many poor people in the state whose livelihoods depend on the yatra," the former chief minister told reporters here.
"I think any restriction on the Yatra is notwhat I would want, it must go freely for two months," he said.The annual yatra is scheduled to commence on July 2.
At a rally in Tral on May 1, Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani had demanded that the Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir Himalayas should be restricted to 30 days for "safety" of pilgrims and protection of environment.
On the issue of Kashmiri Pandits' return to the Valley, Abdullah said that any decision taken must not create tension in the minds of the people.
"Whatever has to be done, the Pandits, Muslims, Sikhs who live in Kashmir will have to sit together and arrive at conducive way of doing it in the manner that would not create any more tension," he said.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to China, Abdullah said, "China has its own policy...We are trying to develop better relations and now it is upto China."
On being asked if Modi's visit to China would be fruitful, he reiterated that it depends on China.
"Whether it (Modi's visit) will achieve something or not... The success is upto God and Chinese," he said.
Abdullah said he hoped Modi will raise the issue of stapled visa with Chinese authorities. "PM should tell them to pleasegive us a normal visa," he said.
He was referring to stapled visas issued by China for residents of J&K and Arunachal Pradesh.
Abdullah had come here to meet ailing BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta.
This was his first visit to Jammu after an organ transplant surgery in London last year.(PTI)

Indian Flag hoisting march suspended
=> Lesser known organization ‘Youth For Nation’ that was mulling to hoist Indian flag at historic Lal Chowk Clock Tower in Srinagar city on May 16 at 11:30 am, Friday said due to ‘callous attitude’ of the Jammu and Kashmir Government it has suspended its ‘flag hoisting march.’
Accusing BJP of double standard, the organization head Nirman Deep Singh told that this party did not provide them permission and informed them, “our act can hurt the sentiments of Kashmiri people.”
“Our organization did not blame PDP but it was BJP that forced us to call off our flag hoisting march. It was the same BJP when its youth leader Anurag Thakur in 2013 started a march from Jammu to hoist Indian flag in Srinagar. That time BJP was out of power and could not succeed in its march as the then government did not permit them. Now the same party which is now in power did not permit us and this has exposed it,” he said.
“I am surprised that the same leaders who encouraged us for May 16 march stopped us and got us arrested few days back,” Singh said, however refused to name the people backing his organization.

Hurriyat asks authorities to issue travel documents to Geelani
=>Hurriyat Conference (G) today asked theRegional Passport Office (RPO) here to issue travel documents to the amalgam chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani for visiting his ailing daughter in Saudi Arabia.
"A reminder in this regard has been filed in the Passport Office, Srinagar, today sothat Geelani can get the travel documents and visit Saudi Arabia to see his ailing daughter," a spokesman of the Hurriyat said.
He said Farhat Jabeen Geelani, who resides in Jeddah, is in a very critical condition there.
"Although she is under the observation of doctors, her health is not showing any significant improvement. Geelani is very desirous to see his ailing daughter but dueto the non availability of the travel documents, this has not been possible for him so far," the spokesman said.
He said Geelani has not been provided a passport for a very long time now "which is in grave violation of the basic human rights and it has no moral or constitutional justification".(PTI)

Ladakh's lifeline'' Srinagar-Leh highway opens
Srinagar: The Srinagar-Leh highway, that links the Ladakh region to the rest of the country, has been opened for vehicular traffic after five months.
Working against the odds in a tough terrain, the Border Roads Organisation was successful in clearing the snow-blocked roads to open the highway.
The BRO is assigned with the task of clearing the snow-bound stretch across the 11,578-foot high Zojila pass, which lies on the lower depression of the Himalayan range, along the 434 kilometre Srinagar-Kargil-Leh Highway.
The highway had earlier been closed for traffic after the Zojila pass had experienced heavy snowfall and avalanches over the past five months.

AFSPA not Applicable to Us: DG CRPF
=>The CRPF revealed on Thursday that AFSPA is not applicable to it and that it cannot comment over whether it should continue to be scraped from Jammu and Kashmir.
“AFSPA is not applicable to us. So, I wouldnot like to comment on this,” Director General CRPF Prakash Mishra told reporters here, adding that he is giving a proposal to the Jammu and Kashmir government for special recruitment of youth here.
“We are happy that Kashmiri youth are taking part in it (army recruitment rallies). Chief Minister is also keen that more youths should join the forces,” the DG CRPF said.
Commenting over the recent killing of two of its personnel in Islamabad district,the DG maintained that CRPF is working on changing the strategy of deployment and patrolling in order to curb the incidents of weapon-snatching by militants.
“Strategy will be changed to stop weaponsnatching incidents. Do not want militantsto take away our weapons or that we suffer any damages in these incidents. We are working on that,” Mishra said.
He maintained that it is very difficult to rule out such incidents and that the CRPF is changing the road opening drill so that it would be able to do its job and its personnel also remain safe. He added that apart from that, CRPF is working with the state police to tackle militancy.
He, however, he was quick to add that such incidents cannot be stopped immediately and that it will take time.

M***i interacts with party delegates, urges them to become eyes, ears of Govt.
=> Asserting that the real power rests with the people who have elected their representatives with great hope and expectations, PDP Patron and Chief Minister M***i Mohammad Sayeed today stated that his Government will guarantee that they bear the fruits of a fair and transparent administration.
He said the party will emerge stronger if it remains connected with the people on the ground for which an effective feedback mechanism will be soon put in place.
The Chief Minister said this while interacting with senior leaders of People's Democratic Party (PDP) of Jammu Division, here today.

M. R. Qureshi and General Secretary, Daman Bhasin, attended the meeting.
Referring to the coming together of the two coalition partners and the time taken in framing of Agenda of the Alliance, M***i Sayeed said the two parties have joined hands to respect the people's mandate which is overwhelmingly in favour of the coalition.
He said the Government has taken several steps to bring about holistic development of Jammu Division. "We have been in power only for little over two months. We don't have to rush through but take decisions patiently so that people who are the real stakeholders are taken on board," he said, while discussing measures to strengthen the party.
Asking delegates to strengthen the party by highlighting developmental and social issues concerning the people in all the three regions of
the State, the Chief Minister said the present Government will ensure that the Common Minimum Programme agreed upon by the coalition partners is implemented on ground and State put firmly on the path of progress and development.
Calling upon party workers to become ears and eyes of the Government, M***i Sayeed highlighted several initiatives taken for development of Jammu region.
"We will promote Jammu as an independent tourist destination. We are working to improve road connectivity and
kick-start several developmental projects so that people feel a tangible change," he stated.
Describing party workers as an effective tool to maintain checks and balances on the Government, the Chief Minister assured the party delegates that he will hold Ministers accountable in achieving the goals of providing succour to the common masses.
"My Ministers will not confine themselves to cosy rooms but reach out to the people in far-flung and remote areas," he added.

Lady dies in a flash flood in Anantnag
=>A woman lost her life after she was swept away in flash flood in Kokernag area of Anantnag district.
A 38-years old lady Haseena Begum wife of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Cheri Larnoo died after being washed away in flash floods caused by heavy rains and hail storm in Larnoo area of Kokernag.The body was later retrieved and handed over to her relatives for last rites.
