*Case Registered for Obstruction and Assault on Police During Traffic Duty in Anantnag*

Anantnag, 5 June 2026:
During routine traffic regulation duties at Bus Stand Crossing, a police party was deployed to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and prevent congestion in the area.

During the course of duty, a vehicle bearing registration number JK03Q-4040 was found parked on the roadside, resulting in a major traffic obstruction and causing inconvenience to commuters. When the police personnel requested the driver to remove the vehicle and clear the road for smooth traffic flow, the individual allegedly became aggressive and physically assaulted the police personnel on duty.

Taking cognizance of the incident, FIR No. 172/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Anantnag Police reiterates that obstruction of public roads and assault on public servants performing their lawful duties are serious offences and will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.

Marking World Environment Day, 17 JKAP (IRP) APC organized a Tree Plantaion Drive in its headquarters at Kehrebal Mattan in south kashmirs Anantnag district as part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

SHOPIAN, June 5, 2026 – On the occasion of World Environment Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, in collaboration with the Forest Department Shopian, organized a plantation drive at the Court Complex, Shopian.

The drive was inaugurated by Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhury, Principal District and Sessions Judge & Chairman, DLSA Shopian. He was accompanied by Mr. Qamar Rashid Khan, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Shopian.

Other judicial and administrative officers present included:

· Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Chowdhury – Chief Judicial Magistrate/Sub-Judge, Shopian
· Mr. Mohd Waseem Mirza – Judicial Magistrate 1st Class / Munsiff
· Ms. Rameen Rashid Khan – Additional Mobile Magistrate, Shopian
· Mr. Rafie Ahmad Ganie – Chief LADC, Shopian

All Lawyers (PLVs), LADCs, LADC staff, and DLSA staff were also present, reflecting strong collective participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhury stressed the importance of afforestation and a clean environment. He urged everyone to take responsibility for protecting nature, noting that a healthy environment is essential for a just and livable society.

The Forest Department Shopian provided technical support and saplings for the drive. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants for making World Environment Day meaningful through concrete action.

*Anantnag Police Conducts NARCO Raids in Hotels Across Pahalgam Sub-Division*

Anantnag, 05 June 2026:
As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police conducted extensive NARCO raids in various hotels located in the Mavoora, Rafting Point, and Yanner areas of Pahalgam Sub-Division.

The operation was carried out by six police teams under the supervision of SDPO Pahalgam. Multiple hotel premises were searched based on credible inputs, with the objective of preventing the use of tourist accommodations for narcotics-related activities and strengthening vigilance against drug networks.

Anantnag Police remains committed to maintaining a drug-free environment and will continue such proactive operations across the district to curb the menace of narcotics.

Anantnag, June 4, 2026:
As part of its ongoing efforts to enforce the law and curb the illegal sale of prohibited to***co and ni****ne products, Anantnag Police conducted separate operations in Anantnag town and Pahalgam, resulting in the recovery of v**es and foreign-origin cigarette packets.

Acting on reliable information regarding the possession and sale of v**es (electronic ci******es), a police team conducted a search at Jewel Pan Shop, located at Lal Chowk, Anantnag, owned by Mohd Younis S/O Habibulla Want R/O Anchidora, Azadpora, Anantnag. During the search, 16 v**e devices were recovered from his possession. Legal action as warranted under the relevant provisions has been initiated.

In a separate operation, a police team from Police Station Pahalgam, accompanied by the Tehsildar Pahalgam, conducted an inspection of commercial establishments in the area. During the inspection, 07 packets of Dunhill brand ci******es of Türkiye origin were recovered from Laway General Store, Pahalgam. Necessary legal action has been initiated in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Anantnag Police remains committed to taking strict action against the sale and distribution of prohibited and unauthorized to***co and ni****ne products and urges traders to adhere to the law. The public is also encouraged to report any such illegal activities to the nearest police establishment.

*Anantnag Police Intensifies Action Against Drug Traffickers; Residential House of NDPS Accused Attached Under Section 68(F) of NDPS Act*

Anantnag, June 4, 2026:
Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narco-financed assets, Anantnag Police has attached a single-storey residential house belonging to accused Mohd Yousuf Hajam S/O Ghulam Mohammad Hajam R/O Panchalthan Chatergul under the provisions of Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.

The attached property has been identified as illegally acquired property linked to proceeds generated through narcotic drug trafficking. The action has been taken in connection with Case FIR No. 42/2026 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Utrasoo, in which the accused is involved.

The attachment has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug trafficking and to deter individuals involved in the narcotics trade.

Anantnag Police remains committed to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and all those involved in the illegal narcotics network, while appealing to the public to continue supporting the fight against the drug menace by sharing credible information with the police.
