MC & Anantnag Police continued its anti-encroachment drive against illegal footpath occupation, unauthorized parking, and street vendors.

Anantnag, Oct 28: The ban on commercial vehicles on the Mehandi Kadal to Janglatmandi road, imposed earlier by Municipal council, police & Traffic Police Anantnag, continues to be enforced. As part of their ongoing drive against traffic violations, officers are actively monitoring the route.

Vehicles found violating the rules are being seized, and challans are issued on the spot under the Motor Vehicle Act. Traffic authorities have urged motorists to adhere to the regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety.

Police Commemoration Day observed at Achabal Anantnag

Anantnag, October 21: Achabal Police today observed Police Commemoration Day – 2025 at Achabal Anantnag with deep respect and gratitude towards the brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. SDPO Achabal Mr Basharat hussain and Sho Achabal Mr Majid Nadeem & Tehsil Social welfare officer Mr Rouf Hamid Shah took the salute.

On the occasion, SDPO Achabal read out the Roll of Honour, recalling the names and supreme sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the security and integrity of the nation. A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the martyrs and to honour their selfless devotion to duty.

33-Year-Old Man Killed In Kokernag Road Accident

Srinagar, October 20(GNS): A 33-year-old man was killed after his vehicle met with an accident near Bidher Larnoo area of Kakernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

Officials told GNS that a Alto K10 car bearing registration number JK03M-9119 lost its control near Larnoo and turned turtle.

In this incident, the driver of vehicle was seriously injured and was shifted to PHC Larnoo, where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Umer Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik resident of Damhal Anantnag.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.(GNS)
