I request all growers to kindly wait at least two more days, as rain is predicted for today and tomorrow. Continuous rain and cloudy conditions often lead to increased fruit drop, and spraying during wet and overcast weather can further aggravate the situation in many orchards. Let’s wait for clearer conditions to ensure better results.(TARIQ RASOOL)

Given the current rainy weather and the green tip stage in many areas, growers have expressed concern about not being able to spray Horticultural Mineral Oil (HMO). Here are my thoughts:

1. Avoid spraying HMO during cool and wet conditions as it may cause bud damage.

2. HMO is generally safe to apply even at the green tip stage.

3. If the weather doesn't permit HMO application, growers need not worry. Missing an HMO spray is far less critical than missing a fungicide spray.

4. Considering last year's scab incidence, the winter weather & the current conditions, growers need not worry about fungicide sprays at this stage.
