DC Bandipora distributed assistive aids among differently abled persons

Bandipora, July 30: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad on Friday distributed various aids and assistive aids among differently abled persons as part of CSR by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC)

The various aids and assistive devices were distributed among 122 persons with disabilities during a camp at the office of Department of Social Welfare Ajar in presence of Ashish Kumar Chouksey, Head Kishenganga Power Project, DSWO Bandipora GM Dar, Officers of NHPC, ALIMCO, and President Handicapped Association Bandipora.

The aid and assistive devices include 98 Hearing Aids, 24 walking sticks, 13 tricycles, 27 wheel chairs, 6 CP Chairs, , 7 smart canes, 2 smart phones, 5 MR Kits, 3 rotators and 18 calipars at a total cost of Rs 10.05 lakhs.

Beneficiaries have been identified during assessment camps conducted by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora in the month of March, 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Bandipora appreciated efforts of NHPC and Social Welfare department to ease the problems faced by differently abled people and hand holding them regularly. He said the district administration is akin to the problems faced by the people with special needs and assured them every possible support that will ease the problems of such people.

Dr Owais stressed on providing better facilities to the children with special abilities so that they can get a better education. He said providing better education and healthcare facilities to such individuals should be the priority for all and assured that all required measures shall be taken to ensure a better education for these individuals.

Bandipora Encounter: Two militants killed; search ops going on

Srinager, Jul 24 (KNO): Two militants have been killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces at Shokbaba area of Sumlar in North Kashmir's Bandipora.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about presence of militants in the forest area of Shokbaba.

“As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter," they said.

They said that two militants have been killed, while search operation was going on in the area—(KNO)
