New Delhi, NFAPost: In a significant step towards achieving the vision of Aatmanirbharta in defence, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of DRDO-developed technologies of all conventional missile systems to the Indian defence industry for production within the country.

This Transfer of Technology marks an important milestone in promoting greater participation of the domestic industries in the defence ecosystem by enabling them to undertake indigenous production, as per applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements.

The provision will enable successful transition of missile system development to industrial production, reflecting the continued efforts of DRDO to leverage the capabilities of the Indian industry for the development and manufacture of advanced defence systems.

The objective is to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthen the defence industrial base and create opportunities for the participation of Indian MSMEs and other technology partners in the supply chain.

The initiative aims to enhance operational capability, reduce import dependence and increase domestic value addition, while supporting the growth of India's defence manufacturing sector.

DRDO remains committed to working closely with Indian industry to facilitate the transfer and absorption of advanced defence technologies and to further strengthen the country's indigenous defence capabilities.

Dubai KMCC, a charitable community initiative of Indian Malayalees, also implemented the larger knowledge dessimination mission via setting up a library to the public at its office in Dubai.

Dubai KMCC's Seethi Sahib LibraryLibrary was inaugurated by Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal in the presence of Indian Malayalee Community and office bearers of Dubai KMCC.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the library in the name of Indian state Karalam's former Legislative Assembly Speaker Seethi Sahib, Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal reminded the importance of books in the civilisational journey of humanity.

"It is a fact that books have its importance at any point of time as reading helps us to deconstruct history and further enhance our capabilities to move forward with renewed vigour," said Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal.

The inauguration function was presided over by Dubai KMCC Acting President Ismail Eramala and World KMCC General Secretary Dr Puthoor Rahman delivered his key note address.

Speaking to TheNFAPost, Dubai KMCC Acting President Ismail Eramala said Keralites are making world over with education and it is supplemented by reading habits.

"Keralam is known for its reading habits supported by newspapers and periodicals along with books made available at village libraries. Here I want to remind the famous quote of Francis Bacon "Reading Maketh A Full Man; Writing An Exact Man and Conferences A Ready Man." Since we are living in an era where history is manipulated for self interest, we should be even more vigilant against these machinations," Dubai KMCC Acting President Ismail Eramala.

GENESIS Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Cohort 3 is a national-level programme to support aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, students and early-stage startup founders in transforming innovative ideas into technology-driven ventures.

GENESIS EIR 3.0 was launched at the GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit, Coimbatore Edition, held on 4th August 2026 at Rathinam Global University, Coimbatore. The Call for Applications is now live and open to the startup and innovation ecosystem.

GENESIS EIR 3.0 is a component of the GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) scheme, aimed at discovering, supporting and accelerating startups, particularly in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

4. The innovation should be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 1–4 (Ideation, Proof of Concept, Prototype, MVP, or early validation stage).

5. The startup should be based in a Tier-II or Tier-III city.

6. The startup, if incorporated, should be less than two years old as on the date of application.

7. The startup must not have received financial assistance exceeding ₹10 lakh under any Central or State Government scheme for the same proposed idea/startup.

Institute of Directors (IOD) Organises Annual Directors Conclave and 36th IOD Annual Day

New Delhi, NFAPost: The Institute of Directors (IOD), a professional organisation for company directors, senior business leaders and entrepreneurs, organised its Annual Directors Conclave and 36th IOD Annual Day on Saturday with overwhelming participation of members.

There was a participatory meeting of the members for a panel discussion on the theme "Making Boards More Effective for Investor Confidence & Sustainable Value Creation."

Delivering his guest of honour keynote speech at the event, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said trust is an important element in the entire structure of company governance.

"What is the most important asset that a company has? It may be its technology. Its people. Its intellectual property. Its factories. Its capital. But there is one asset without which all of these become much less valuable. And this is why the boardroom matters," said SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.

For an independent director or a board member, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the responsibility is not limited to reviewing financial statements or approving proposals placed before the board.

"The board sits at the point where strategy, risk, accountability and stakeholder interests come together. And that point is becoming increasingly complex," said SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.

SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said a board today has to think about cyber risk, artificial intelligence, data, geopolitics, climate risks, changing investor expectations, rapid information flows, besides the domain knowledge of the business.

"So the question before us is not simply whether we have adequate governance rules. This brings me to what I believe isthe central theme of our discussion today —the movement from compliance to stewardship," said SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.

The event witnessed the participation of distinguished directors, corporate leaders, policymakers, regulators, governance experts, IOD Fellows and Members for a day of insight, dialogue and meaningful boardroom engagement.

FKCCI and Dubai Chambers Sign MoU to Strengthen Karnataka–Dubai Business Ties

Speaking on the occasion, FKCCI President Uma Reddy said that Karnataka and Dubai share strong and complementary economic strengths, creating significant opportunities for deeper business collaboration.

India, Japan Sign Maritime Security Pact To Enhance Defence Cooperation and Operational Collaboration In Indo-Pacific Region

PM recalls productive discussions with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during her recent visit to India

PM highlights opportunities for Japan to partner with Indian companies and start-ups in defence co-development and co-production under Make-in-India

New Delhi, NFAPost: Japan’s Minister of Defence Shinjiro Koizumi, who is on an official visit to India, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister recalled his detailed discussions with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during her recent visit to India for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit in July 2026, and appreciated the steady momentum in defence collaboration between India and Japan.

Prime Minister outlined his vision for further strengthening the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan and highlighted the importance of India-Japan defence and security cooperation in furthering peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Prime Minister outlined opportunities for Japan to partner with Indian companies and start-ups in the defence sector, particularly for co-development and co-production under the aegis of ‘Make in India.’

Defence Minister Koizumi briefed the Prime Minister about the progress in bilateral defence cooperation and reaffirmed the Government of Japan’s continued commitment towards deepening ties with India.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi on Thursday. The joint press statement is as follows:

The two Ministers welcomed the steady strengthening of defence cooperation, including cooperation among the respective Ministries and the Services of the two countries that share strategic perspectives, under the “Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership”, which constitutes one of the pillars for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

"Recalling the Japan-India Joint Statement issued by the leaders of the two countries in July 2026, the two Ministers affirmed their commitment, under their leadership, to further deepen defence cooperation to realise a free and open Indo-Pacific," states Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The two Ministers concurred on the importance of sharing assessments of the regional and international security environment between the two countries at a time of heightened global tensions.

They expressed their strong opposition to any unilateral actions that impede freedom and safety of navigation and overflight, as well as to any attempts to change the status-quo by force or coercion.

The two Ministers concurred on deepening operational cooperation in the field of maritime security in a practical and effective manner.

They accordingly affirmed their commitment to strengthening Maritime Security Cooperation and signed the Memorandum of Arrangement on Maritime Security Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of Japan and Ministry of Defence of India.

The Memorandum provides a framework for further advancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime security.

Specifically, it includes the strengthening of cooperation between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Indian Navy, including information sharing in the field of Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), as well as enhanced cooperation in areas such as Search and Rescue (SAR) and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).

The two Ministers affirmed that they would strengthen coordination between both sides for the protection of Sea Lines of Communications through mutual visits by naval ships and units, joint exercises, personnel and Subject Matter Expert (SME) exchanges and logistical support including use of ports, maintenance and repair facilities. Such cooperation is vital not only to Japan and India, but also to the region and the international community.

The two Ministers concurred on moving swiftly to realize concrete maritime security cooperation that serves the strategic and operational needs.

They further shared the view that both sides should maximize synergies to enhance mine countermeasures capabilities and explore the possibility of joint development in naval shipbuilding and design by leveraging Japan’s technological expertise and India’s production capabilities in accordance with their respective relevant policies.

They further shared the view that both sides should leverage each other’s strengths in the field of defense shipbuilding and related areas, and deepen discussions on Japan’s use of India’s production capabilities under the framework of “Make in India”.

The Two Ministers also concurred on progressing reciprocal provision of ship repair facilities including the conclusion of ship repair arrangement in near future.

The two Ministers welcomed the steady expansion and deepening of bilateral exercises conducted by Japan and India, including the Japan-India Army exercise ‘Dharma Guardian’ and the Japan-India Maritime Exercise “JAIMEX”.

They particularly welcomed the steady progress in coordination for the Japan-India Air Force exercise “Veer Guardian 26”, scheduled to be held this year, under which Japan Air Self-Defence Force fighter aircraft will, for the first time, visit India and participate in the exercise.

The two Ministers concurred on further deepening cooperation in bilateral exercises through enhanced complexities, integration of unmanned systems and pursuing joint exercises at short notice, whenever the opportunities arise.

With a view to further advancing cooperation among the Services of the two countries, the two Ministers concurred on promoting exchanges between their respective Special Operations Forces and pursuing cooperation with India’s integrated theatre commands following their establishment.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed Japan’s recent review of its framework for the transfer of defence equipment and technology, and expressed his expectation that Japan would further contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and the wider world.

He particularly expressed his expectations for the further deepening of the defence and technology partnership between the two countries.

The two Ministers shared the view that the project concerning the shipborne UNICORN integrated communications antenna system, as the first defence equipment transfer project between the two countries, represents a symbol of the deepening cooperation between Japan and India in the transfer of defence equipment and technology.

Under the leadership of two Ministers, they affirmed their commitment to working together towards the early realization of the project.

With a view to materializing other projects in the field of defence equipment and technology, they further concurred on advancing discussions among the respective Services of the two countries concerning operational requirements.

The two Ministers also affirmed their commitment to deepening the defence R&D cooperation between DRDO & ATLA in the field of state-of-the-art defence technologies. Both Ministers also confirmed their intention to convene a Defence Industry Forum.

The two Ministers welcomed the first trilateral naval PASSEX exercise involving Japan, India and Indonesia, which was conducted in February this year.

With a view to taking a comprehensive perspective of the Indo-Pacific and contributing jointly to peace and stability in the region and the world, they concurred on further deepening cooperation with third countries, through high level exchanges, exercises and other relevant initiatives.

The two Ministers concurred on further promoting cooperation through the Indo-Pacific Logistics Network (IPLN) to support partner countries in the event of a natural disaster, through transporting of personnel and supplies.

They welcomed that the second tabletop exercise of the IPLN is scheduled to be held at the Japan Ministry of Defense in September this year.

Recalling the guidance set forth in the Japan-India Joint Statement issued by the leaders of the two countries in July 2026, the two Ministers concurred on accelerating discussions towards convening the Fourth Japan-India Foreign and Defence Ministerial Meeting (“2+2”) in Tokyo in this year.

The two Ministers further concurred that Japan and India will hold consultations, when necessary, to ensure the security of both countries and peace and stability in the region.

The two Ministers concurred on establishing a Working Group, headed at the Director-General/ Joint Secretary level to advance cooperation in an integrated manner across the operational, intelligence, equipment, technology and industrial domains, while fully respecting each country’s respective policies and sovereign choices.

The Working Group will provide overall coordination for the directions of cooperation concurred upon by the two Ministers, maximise synergies among the various areas of cooperation, and accelerate their implementation.

Prior to the meeting, Defense Minister KOIZUMI paid homage to India’s fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and he was received with the ceremonial Tri-Service Guard of Honour.

Defense Minister KOIZUMI also visited the Western Naval Command (WNC) at Mumbai and Indian Naval Ship Chennai.
