WE NEED ONE VOICE.

There is a growing narrative that if community dogs are picked up, we can simply adopt them, hand them over to an NGO, or visit the shelter to make sure they are treated well.

But that is a solution available to a few.

What about the millions of community dogs who have no caretaker, no feeder, no activist and no NGO willing to take them in?

We cannot dilute the larger issue with solutions that only work when someone is privileged enough to fight for that particular dog.

The question is not “How do we make shelters better?”

The question is “Why are healthy community dogs being removed from their lives in the first place?”

Every animal deserves the right to live.

Our compassion should not come at the cost of their freedom.

We need one voice. One stand.

Say NO to shelters.
Say NO to mass confinement.
Say YES to their right to live.

Our dogs have the right to live in this country.

An environmental catastrophe is unfolding in real-time off the coast of Oman.

Location: Off Hallaniyat Islands, Oman.

A grounded shadow-fleet tanker carrying roughly 1 million barrels of crude oil has created an oil slick spanning over 2,000 square kilometers across the protected waters of the Hallaniyat Islands.

This isn’t just an isolated spill—it’s an ecological and human crisis:

Marine Devastation: The slick threatens fragile coral reefs, endangered sea turtles, and critical marine breeding grounds in a dedicated nature reserve.

Human Impact: Toxic contamination puts coastal fishing communities out of work, poisons seafood supply chains, and risks municipal seawater desalination intakes.

Shadow Fleet Threat: Aging, poorly maintained tankers operating under flags of convenience without proper insurance or safety oversight are ticking time bombs navigating our oceans.

When corporate greed and geopolitical workarounds bypass maritime regulations, the planet and frontline communities pay the price.

KAZIRANGA DOESN’T END AT ITS BOUNDARY.

Kaziranga is one of the world's most important wildlife landscapes — home to rhinos, elephants, tigers, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, bears, countless birds and other species. But its survival has never depended on the park existing as an isolated island.

The Assam government has proposed reducing the Eco-Sensitive Zone around Kaziranga from 10 km to 1 km.

That is not simply a number on a map.

Kaziranga lies in the Brahmaputra floodplain. Flooding is a natural part of this ecosystem. When the waters rise, animals move towards higher ground, including the Karbi Anglong Hills.

UNESCO has specifically identified the connectivity between Kaziranga and Karbi Anglong as important to the park's integrity.

And this is where the real concern begins.

When wildlife is forced outside the park during floods, it becomes more exposed to roads, settlements, traffic and human activity. UNESCO itself notes that seasonal flooding causes animals to move outside the park, where they can face hunting and retaliation for crop damage.

So when a rhino enters a village, an elephant crosses a road, or a tiger moves beyond the park…

We call it human-wildlife conflict.

But are we asking the right question?

Did wildlife invade our space — or did we keep shrinking theirs?

And this isn't only about animals.

Kaziranga's wetlands and floodplains are part of a living river system shaped by the Brahmaputra. Protecting these ecological buffers means protecting the landscape that people and wildlife depend upon.

Development is necessary.

But development that destroys ecological connectivity is not progress.

A protected area cannot survive as an island.

Wildlife needs habitat.
It needs corridors.
It needs wetlands.
It needs flood refuges.
It needs breathing space.

And Assam's people need a healthy landscape too.

Protect Kaziranga.
Protect its corridors.
Protect Assam.

21 community dogs disappeared from the DRDO township in Bengaluru, leaving behind unanswered questions and immense pain. The Karnataka High Court has now allowed the police investigation to continue, bringing hope that the truth about what happened to these voiceless lives will finally come out.

May the investigation be thorough, transparent and fair and may every person responsible, if wrongdoing is established, be held accountable. These dogs deserved safety, not disappearance.

We need answers. We need justice.

An official DC Order (dt 07-03-2026) has reserved 4 acres in Thammanayakanahalli, Anekal Taluk under Section 71 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 for a stray dog shelter.

While shelter infrastructure is needed, siting this project barely 50 meters from the Bannerghatta Forest boundary creates critical ecological and safety threats:

Escalating Predator Sightings: Given recent leopard sightings across Bengaluru’s peripheral zones, placing a high-density shelter on the forest edge creates an artificial prey base that will draw big cats into nearby villages.

Bio-Medical Waste Risks: Runoff and bio-medical waste released near an Eco-Sensitive Zone risk spreading deadly biological contaminants to wild fauna.

Legal Restrictions: Condition #7 strictly prohibits private NGOs, trusts, or societies from taking possession or operating on this land, while Condition #3 bans destructive civil construction.

Animal welfare solutions must be humane, legally viable, and ecologically sound without putting surrounding communities or forest reserves at risk!
