A medical institute in Chikkaballapur has received ₹5.50 crore from ICMR for a four-year study on Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare genetic disorder that causes extreme skin fragility and chronic wounds. The ADAPT-EB project aims to develop affordable diagnostics and treatments and cut diagnostic costs by more than 60%.

ICMR has awarded ₹5.50 crore to SMSIMSR for the study, which aims to develop low-cost genomic testing and repurpose existing drugs for EB.
