2 Days to Pakistan ❤️ Come explore the breathtaking beauty of Moola Chotok Waterfalls! There are 500 small and large waterfalls spread out over the teeny tiny area of just 1 kilometre so this is a very special place on our planet.

The drive is hell, I won't lie. It took over 5 hours to arrive from downtown Khuzdar and the going was ROUGH. I'd like to say it was all worth it but I had a bit of a personal "fail" even though I 1,000% recommend everyone to visit Moolah Chotok Waterfalls.

I experienced wonderful moments on the way like chai on a mountain top with Levies. I also devoured my first local meal of in-the-moment slaughtered whole goat called Sajji and bread cooked on the open fire with a rock inside to bake it all the way through called Kaak."

3 Days to Pakistan ❤️ Hiking to Balochistan’s Shrine of Sheik Hussani and meeting his tribe of gracious and beautiful descendants is a must-do experience when you are planning your next Balochistan trip, trust me on this one! You'll traverse sweeping, remote landscapes as you hike up to the top of a mountain at an elevation of 3868 metres. Depending on the time of year it is, you'll be able to wade across a running river and sit below a lovely waterfall.

I was supposed to do this trip in January 2021 but I broke my toe that morning and was quite literally in hospital. But I'm happy things worked out as they did because this time my friend Saif from was able to join me and -- honestly -- I don't think I would have found the shrine without him.

This is a perfect day trip from Quetta that will leave you tired from head-to-toe but feeling like you've witnessed something very few people in this world ever will. The shrine is lovingly maintained by the tribe, who welcome guests as if they are family. If you want to camp, they'll let you do that too.

Moving to Pakistan in 4 Days ❤️ This video is a compilation of my favourite places in Balochistan! If you know me, you know that the 1st time I visited Pakistan, it was 100% because of Balochistan and the amazing friend I made who helped me plan a grand adventure across 10 districts — Saif from the YouTube channel (thank you again, Saif!).

The only places foreigners really went in 2020 were to Gwadar and Hingol National Park. But through the kindness of a YouTuber who mapped out weeks of hidden gem places for me, most that no foreigner had visited in decades, I remembered what it felt like to travel before travel was about Instagram moments and content creation.

I will always be grateful for that help.

And for opening my eyes to the importance of finding the destinations less travelled that also deserve our tourism love.

I still haven't been to "The North" aside from Kashmir and Chitral. Maybe I'll go this time, I don't know. But I think that rural areas of Sindh, Punjab, and the Hindukush Mountains are calling me more than The North, where 95% of all foreigners in Pakistan go already. My tourism money isn’t needed there.

With that said … I do hope that I'll be able to visit a couple of new districts in Balochistan, too. The waterfall in Zhob and the historic sites of Kharan are high on my list.

6 Days to Pakistan 🐪 I've chased camels through mud, ruining a favourite pair of sandals. Almost been run over by one trying to capture the "perfect shot" at an exhilarating village camel race. And had the most fun discovering the pride the owners have in bling'ing them out!

The first camel I remember seeing in Pakistan was about 15 days into my trip. It was in Punjab, the day I woke up at 3am to watch the sunrise across the desert at the gorgeous 16th-century Cholistan Fort.

I don't know what it is about camels but they turn me into a 5-year-old, wide-eyed and just wanting to be their friends!

Moving to Pakistan, 7 Days to go ❤️ Dhabas are NOT posh, NOT deemed appropriate for women, and NEVER disappoint me with how wonderful they are. If you followed my 2021 Balochistan & Kashmir road tripping adventures then you know ... DHABAS WERE MY HAPPY PLACE ... 'cuz they always have chai 🥰

Normally there are curious looks headed my way when I enter because I'm a rare customer demographic for dhabas. But the "always all men" there look at me with a smile and like I’m a sister, which I love about Pakistan (I've never felt unsafe there as a tourist).

Moving to Pakistan, 8 Days to go 🚂 If you're like me and geek out on trains, you're gonna LOVE Pakistan! Charming railway stations are the norm and it's a slow, chilled, and wonderful way to see the countryside.

I’ve taken 2 overnight trains (22 and 24-hour journeys) and absolutely recommend their AC Sleeper private cabin!

The most scenic train ride in Pakistan — for me — is the historic rail journey through the 22 mountain tunnels of the Bolan Pass in Balochistan, from Quetta to Sibi ❤️ Construction started in the 1800s and it's a gorgeous ride that puts you 'at one' with the desolation of the desert and its picture-perfect landscapes. This journey takes around 4.5 hours and moves passengers through some of the prettiest landscapes and narrowest tunnels imaginable.

I did this trip with Balochistan's original vlogger (and my friend) Saif from the YouTube channel .

Moving to Pakistan, 9 Days & Counting ❤️ I’ve been twice to this mystical oasis in Balochistan, once in 2021 and then in 2024!

I first saw it in a "best of Balochistan" article and instantly fell in love with Pir Chattal Noorani Gandhawa. It's a cross between an ancient Roman fantasy and a magical place from Avatar, located in the heart of Jhal Magsi.

And its crystal-clear waters hold a secret! It is said that if anyone were to eat one of the many fish that have occupied the waters for centuries they would perish in an excruciating way!

I’ve had a wonderful time — both times — exploring the history and rugged landscapes of Jhal Magsi. The district isn't quite set up for tourism but you can camp, which I would 100% recommend.

Moving Back to Pakistan, 10 Days & Counting ❤️ Pakistan is now a part of my life's journey like only two other countries have been (Spain & India). It has shared lessons to help me grow. It's beautiful, peaceful and full of people who truly LOVE others. And home to my favourite chai moments I've ever experienced.

MY PLAN
After catching up in Islamabad with friends, buying all the mobile carrier MIFI devices possible (so hopefully 1 will always work no matter where I am), and shopping for Pakistani dresses (so excited!) … I’ll be off exploring remote areas of KP. I’ll visit the beloved UNESCO (Tentative List) Kalash Valley and popular spots like Chitral. But also travel to hidden gem spots throughout the Hindu Kush Mountains.

After that, I do not have a plan but hopefully I can stay until early December!

Ghosted & In Pain 💔 I had a daughter. I was never a traditional “tv mom” I’m sure, but she was my greatest gift & I love her with my whole heart (yes, love not loved … will explain).

I divorced her father when she turned one because he was a bully, abusive, and unkind. He never paid child support over the next 17 years, never helped pay for her education, and would demoralise us and make us feel small over the decades.

I don’t know why but after a holiday in Florida in December 2021 — when I flew in from Pakistan & she from Belgium to visit my Mom — she ghosted me. At first, I thought she was in pain or suffering and that’s why she wasn’t replying back to me. As time went on, I realised it was ME she was ignoring.

It crippled me. The 1st couple years, I drank myself to sleep every night & did little beyond mandatory client work. My relationship with Mom suffered and almost broke, too. She loves her 1st grandchild! My daughter told Mom not to share details about her life, so when I’d ask “how is she?” it became a drama. It devastated me that my own mother wouldn’t tell me how my angel was doing and that she took her side :-(

It’s 4.5 years later. I do not know why I am ghosted. I struggle with the fact that my daughter is strategically punishing me in this way. It is 100% NOT how I raised her. However, it is 100% how her father was. But not us. We talked. We made big decisions (like which country to move to next) together. We weren’t cruel like my ex.

Less than 10 people on this planet knew about the ghosting until now. I felt SHAME & like a piece a sh*t, unworthy and unloved. But I have to let this go. The ghosting is intentional, so I must have done something awful. I just wish I knew WHAT so I could make things right. I miss her. Every day, with my whole heart.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I saw a therapist for 2 years who taught me tools to compartmentalise emotions & that changed my life. But the loss still hangs over me like a raincloud. For me, writing is cathartic & I haven’t been myself in years. Writing helps me move on & I have to let this go. So my hope is this unburdens me until I learn the horrible thing I did to warrant this.

I am starting to write a book about my 2 years in Pakistan and I am starting Chapter 1 on this amazing camel race but I don't remember a few details. Would like to ask someone else who was there please.
