TK Elevator UAE has entered into an agreement with the Esaad Card Program to provide eligible cardholders with preferential pricing on new elevator and escalator installations, as well as maintenance services.

The partnership is aimed at making advanced vertical mobility solutions more accessible to private and commercial property owners across the UAE.

Through this collaboration, TK Elevator UAE will support the adoption and upkeep of elevator and escalator systems, contributing to safer, more reliable and efficient mobility experiences.

Schindler Group Holding Ltd. has announced the appointment of André Becker as Chief Human Resources, with Becker also joining the company’s Group Executive Committee effective January 1, 2027.

Becker brings extensive international experience in human resources and executive leadership. He previously served as Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Board Member at Lidl. Before joining Lidl, he held several leadership positions at BASF, including Chief Human Resources Officer.

Following the appointment, Schindler’s Group Executive Committee will comprise CEO Paolo Compagna, CFO and Deputy CEO Carla De Geyseleer, CIO Matteo Attrovio, CTO Donato Carparelli, Becker and the company’s divisional heads overseeing Europe South, Asia Pacific, Europe North, Americas and Escalators, and China.

The appointment marks another step in strengthening Schindler’s leadership team as it continues to serve the evolving needs of the global elevator and escalator industry.

The revised IS 17900 brings significant changes to lift safety, with new requirements covering passenger protection, service engineer safety and building design.

The updated standard introduces measures such as Unintended Car Movement (UCM) protection, pendulum testing for lift doors, stricter fire classification for lift car materials and Ascending Car Overspeed Protection (ACOP).

According to Elevator Auditor, Rajnikant Lad, these changes, effective from December 2025, are expected to impact elevator manufacturing, installation, servicing and associated civil and electrical works.

TK Elevator to Supply Around 60 VT Units for Barcelona’s New Pavilion Zero

TK Elevator (TKE) is set to provide roughly 60 vertical-transportation units for Fira Barcelona’s new Pavilion Zero in Barcelona, Spain.

Developed by Fira 2000 S.A., the project will add 60,000 m² to the Grand Via venue, taking its total exhibition space to 300,000 m² and enhancing its capacity to host major international events.

The VT package includes 26 velino escalators with 1,000-mm-wide steps and a 30° incline, designed to navigate height differences of 4 to 10 metres. The project will also feature 20 AI-ready, natively digital EOX elevators, combining energy efficiency with digital capabilities.

The elevator package includes high-capacity units capable of carrying up to 1,600 kg or 21 passengers, travelling at speeds of up to 3 m/s and serving heights of up to 74 metres. The installation will also include 1,000-kg elevators for 13 passengers, including a panoramic elevator.

Supporting the venue’s complex logistics will be heavy-duty equipment comprising 9,000-kg freight elevators, 10,000-kg platform lifts and 6,500-kg electric freight elevators.

Much of the equipment will be manufactured at TK Elevator’s plants in Spain and Germany, highlighting the scale and technical requirements of one of Barcelona’s major upcoming exhibition infrastructure projects.

EECMAI ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE FOR 2026–2029

The Elevator & Escalator Component Manufacturers' Association of India (EECMAI) has announced its new Management Committee for the 2026–2029 term, following its Members’ General Meeting held in Chennai on September 9.

Ashok Vijay Subhedar, DSA Electro Controls Pvt. Ltd., has been elected as President, with B. S. Kumaraswamy as Vice President, Harish Ashok Nakman as Treasurer, Vishal Anant Kulkarni as Secretary and Aakarsh Khandhar as Joint Secretary.

All five office bearers were elected unopposed and will formally assume office from September 20.

The transition marks a new phase for EECMAI, with continued focus on industry representation, safety, standards, regulatory engagement, knowledge sharing and collaboration across India’s elevator and escalator component sector.

VDA is bringing its U.S. inspection brands together under a single name - VDA in early 2027.

The move will bring together 14 U.S.-based brands acquired since 2020, including Allsafe, Apex, Central, Colorado Conveyance, Dominion, EIS, Encompass RNC, Florida CEI, High Sierra, Sierra, Suncoast, Texas QEI, TNT and 1 Above.

According to VDA, the unified brand will provide customers with a single point of access to its inspection and consulting services across the U.S., while continuing to maintain its local, hands-on approach.

VDA’s international brands, GUNN in Canada and D2E in the U.K. and India, will retain their existing names.

The consolidation reflects VDA’s expanding inspection and consulting footprint across the vertical-transportation industry.

India’s presence at WEE Expo 2026 reflected the growing interest in its vertical transportation industry and the opportunities opening up across global markets.

Held in Guangzhou, the World Elevator & Escalator Expo brought together elevator and escalator companies, technology providers and industry professionals from around the world. Indian visitors and exhibitors used the four-day event to explore new technologies, build connections and understand opportunities beyond the domestic market.

Anitha Raghunath and Raghu G., Directors, Virgo Communications and Exhibitions, also presented on the opportunities and potential India offers to VT industry players, drawing attention to the country’s growing role in the global industry.
