Why do our biggest posters belong to politicians, while the people building India’s future remain almost invisible?
China has been putting scientists such as Qian Xuesen, Tu Youyou and Yuan Longping on public screens and celebrating them as national icons.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru — India’s space hub — is facing reports of around 80 scientists leaving ISRO. The reported exits have also raised concerns around retaining talent working on critical missions, including Gaganyaan.
Most of us can instantly recognise political faces plastered across Bengaluru’s junctions, banners and hoardings.
But can we name even a few scientists behind India’s biggest space and scientific achievements?
Maybe it’s time to rethink who deserves our biggest posters, our attention and our respect.
The next generation should grow up knowing the people building India’s future — not just the people asking for their votes. 🚀🇮🇳
