Thousands gather in Ulsoor for the vibrant Poo Pallaki Utsava, as over 100 beautifully adorned chariots—decorated with jasmine, roses, and tuberoses—take part in a grand procession celebrating the divine wedding of Lord Someshwara and Goddess Kamakshidevi. People constantly walking in and out, the night stretching endlessly with voices, laughter, and the rhythm of drums.
And always, a kitchen that never paused.
An age-old tradition spanning centuries and one of Bengaluru’s most visually stunning, culturally rich temple festivals. At its heart stands the ancient Halasuru Someshwara Temple, among the city’s oldest, with roots tracing back to the Vijayanagara Empire and possibly even the Chola period.
This night-long celebration marks the divine wedding of
Lord Someshwara (Shiva) and Goddess Kamakshi (Parvati).
Through the night, 100+ palanquins from temples across Bengaluru arrive in a procession each carrying a deity, adorned with breathtaking floral artistry, coming together to celebrate this sacred wedding anniversary.
A night where tradition, community, music, and devotion come alive in a riot of flowers, light, and joy.
