Jio Loses 79 Lakh Users In 30 Days; BSNL Gains 55 Lakh
With its competitive pricing, state-owned telecom service provider BSNL is now posing a stiff challenge to industry giants such as Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio and Sunil Mittal's Airtel.

As per the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio lost 79 lakh subscribers, Airtel 14 lakh customers, and Vi (Vodafone-Idea) lost 15 lakh customers in September 2024.

However, BSNL has made a strong comeback. Between July and October 2024, the government-owned provider gained over 55 lakh new users.

Seer Shivakumara Swami's Statue Vandalised in Bengaluru, Accused Claims Jesus 'Inspired' Him
The of Shivakumara Swami at Siddaganga Mutt in was on November 30. The accused, Srikrishna, claimed a vision of Jesus Christ in his dream asked him to do so.

The accused, 37-year-old Srikrishna, a delivery executive from Pradesh, was apprehended by the police.

During questing, claimed that he was "inspired" to deface the statue after dreaming of Christ.

According to the police, Srikrishna went to the statue of Swami around 1:30 am and left the scene after partially it.

Residents of the area discovered the damage the next morning and launched a protest.

Police are investigating the case

Bengal LoP Demands 'Sanatan Board' Akin to Waqf Board

Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday demanded the formation of a 'Sanatan Board' on the lines of the Waqf Board.

"Similar to how the Waqf Board protects the interests of Muslims in India, there is a need for a dedicated 'Sanatan Board' to protect the rights and interests of Hindus," he said.

Elephant Calf Dies After Falling into Septic Tank in Kerala's Thrissur

An elephant calf fell into a septic tank at Palapilli Elikode Nagar in the Thrissur district of Kerala and was noticed by locals around 8 am on Thursday.

On being informed, Palapilli Range forest officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The stones and mud were removed using an earthmover. Despite efforts by forest officials, the calf succumbed to its injuries by noon.

According to forest officials, the calf was part of a herd that came to the area on Wednesday night and fell into the septic tank next to an unoccupied house. The herd was later driven back into the forest.

Imposes Complete on Public Consumption of
The Assam government has decided to ban serving and consumption of beef in restaurants, hotels, and public places, said Chief Minister Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet convened to amend the existing law to incorporate new provisions, he said.

"The current law on is strong, but there has been no prohibition on the consumption of beef at restaurants, hotels, and religious or social gatherings so far. Now, we have decided to make the law stronger to put a complete ban on the consumption of beef in public places too in the state," he added.

An Army soldier, who was off duty, sustained injuries after being shot at by terrorists in the Tral region of the Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, according to officials.

Delhair Mushtaq, who resides in Aripal, Tral, suffered two wounds to his legs. According to reports, the incident took place in close proximity to his residence in .

Mushtaq was rushed to a hospital, and his condition is said to be stable.

The soldier was on leave. Search is on to track down the assailants, as reported by agencies.
