Rapido & Uber Resume Bike Taxis in Karnataka Amid HC Push

After being banned since June 16, bike taxi services are back on Rapido and Uber in Karnataka, with bookings spotted live on August 21.

This comes as the Karnataka High Court directed the state government to clarify its stance and frame rules for bike taxis within four weeks.

Bike taxi operators, who filed the petition, argued that the ban threatens livelihoods and pointed out that 13 other states already have clear policies in place. They also highlighted that two-wheelers offer vital last-mile connectivity in congested cities like Bengaluru.

The case now puts pressure on the state to balance regulation, safety, and gig economy jobs.

Apple Leases New Bengaluru Office, To Pay ₹6.3 Cr Monthly Rent 🍏🏢

Apple India has leased 2.7 lakh sq. ft. office space at Embassy Zenith, Bengaluru, for a period of 10 years.
Monthly Rent: ₹6.3 crore (₹235/sq. ft.)
Deposit: ₹31.57 crore
Annual Hike: 4.5%
Total Outgo (10 yrs): Over ₹1,000 crore (including rent, parking & maintenance)
Apple will occupy nine floors (5th–13th) in the building. Despite criticism from US President Donald Trump over its India expansion, Apple continues to strengthen its presence in the country.
The company is also India’s largest mobile exporter, shipping iPhones worth ₹1.5 lakh crore in FY 2024-25.

This clears the path for the final ministry approval, which could come as soon as next week. The 19.15 km line connecting South Bengaluru to Electronic City is just one step away from its official launch.

🔥 Fire in Ulsoor, Bengaluru: 10 Bikes & Shop Gutted

Unidentified miscreants set fire to parked two-wheelers near Kaliyamma Temple, Bazaar Street (Ulsoor) around 3:30 am on Monday.
🔹 10 bikes, including a birthday gift Pulsar, and a vegetable shop were completely gutted.
🔹 Locals doused the flames.
🔹 Police are investigating.

🎬 Movie Tickets in Karnataka Capped at ₹200!

The Karnataka government has proposed a new rule capping movie ticket prices at ₹200 (tax included) across all theatres — from single screens to multiplexes, for all language films.

Part of the Karnataka Cinemas (Amendment) Rules, 2025, this move aims to make cinema more accessible and affordable for everyone. The draft is now open for public feedback.

Auto Rickshaw Fare Hike in Bengaluru from August 1 🚖

Attention Bengaluru commuters! Starting August 1, auto rickshaw fares will go up:
🔸 Minimum fare: ₹36 for the first 2 km (earlier ₹30)
🔸 Per km after 2 km: ₹18 (earlier ₹15)
🔸 Night fare (10 PM to 5 AM): 1.5x the normal rate
🔸 Waiting charges: First 5 mins free, then ₹10 per 15 mins

The new fares apply within BBMP limits. Auto meters must be updated and re-verified by October 31.
