Google might remove the "Followed Places" feature from Google Maps in January 2025, according to hints found in a beta version of the app. This feature allows users to follow favorite places and receive updates about them. Users can still download their followed places data using Google Takeout. Although the feature has become less visible over time, users can currently find their followed places in the Saved tab. An official announcement from Google is still pending. Additionally, Google Maps will also stop supporting chat with businesses and has introduced other updates like generative AI features and improved accessibility.
