Day 8.2 of Navaratri ✨🎎
Colour: Pink🩷
Dhanyam (Tuesday) : Thuvarai (Pigeon pea) 🫛
Navaratri, or the nine sacred nights dedicated to the Mother Goddess, are celebrated in the month of October-November. Navaratri includes the Sarasvati Puja and the Durga Puja festivals. “Nava” means nine and “ratri” means night. So, Navaratri literally means nine nights.
The concept of Bommai Golu:
Golu not only showcases the rich culture and customs of Hindus, but it is also a way for young people to be introduced to the various deities and their significance in Hinduism. Navaratri is also an occasion to seek divine blessings and spiritual fulfilment.
In the earlier days, event of historical significance were displayed as dolls in the Golu, thereby reminding us of our deep rooted culture and its significance.
These days, the Golu is an exciting mix of tradition and modernity ✨
A recent trend has been a specific colour allotted to each day of the Navaratri. Colours play a special role during Navratri as each day is linked with a particular form of Goddess Durga and her blessings. PINK is the colour of the ninth day signifying purity and innocence - Siddhidatri 🩷
Dhanyam refers to the grains specific to each day of the week. Today, being Tuesday, the Dhanyam is Thuvarai (Pigeon Pea)
