Mosque Demolished at Saharanpur Collectorate, Owaisi Condemns Action

SAHARANPUR, September 5: A mosque located within the Saharanpur Collectorate premises in Uttar Pradesh was demolished around 5 a.m. on Saturday, drawing criticism from AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi questioned whether the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom still applies to Muslims and said the mosque committee had submitted records showing its existence before 1911. Authorities said the demolition was carried out following a court order, which held that the mosque had been constructed illegally on government land. Additional security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order and prevent rumours. Congress MP Imran Masood also criticised the demolition.
