Bengaluru has earned a reputation as a city where many women feel relatively safer compared to metros like Delhi and Mumbai. That is something worth recognising, but safety is never a finished job.

The real goal is simple. Better lighting, safer bus stops and stronger last mile connectivity so that women feel equally confident on every road and at every hour.

A safer Bengaluru is not about credit. It is about continuously making the city work better for everyone.

Footpaths are meant for people.

Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has proposed increasing the penalty for riding motor vehicles on footpaths from ₹500 to ₹5,000.

A stronger penalty can help protect pedestrians and discourage vehicles from treating footpaths as shortcuts.

If implemented effectively, it could be a positive step towards making Bengaluru safer and more walkable.

Bengaluru’s smartest pedestrians weren’t humans today. 🐾
Four stray dogs crossed the road using a zebra crossing.

Whether they learned by watching people or simply chose the safest path, one thing stood out.

A zebra crossing only works when everyone respects it.

Small habits like stopping at a crossing can save lives. Sometimes, the simplest reminder comes from the most unexpected place.

Swipe to watch the moment.

GBA Elections postponed. Again.

The Supreme Court has directed that elections to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) be held in December, with the Karnataka SIR final voter rolls expected in November.

This isn’t the first time Bengaluru’s local body elections have been pushed back. Delays have become a recurring story, while the city continues to grow and its civic challenges keep piling up.

Whether December finally becomes the turning point remains to be seen. For now, Bengaluru waits.

Bengaluru ranked 33rd among the world’s 50 highest heat risk cities, according to an Oxford University study.

This isn’t just about hotter summers.

The study looks at a combination of heat exposure, population vulnerability and a city’s ability to cope with extreme temperatures.

Bengaluru was once known for its pleasant climate. Today, rapid urbanisation, shrinking green cover, disappearing lakes and endless concrete are changing that reality.

Every tree protected, every lake restored and every shaded street planned today will decide how livable our city remains tomorrow.

A cooler Bengaluru won’t happen on its own.

Most road rage doesn’t begin with violence.
It begins with a moment.

A horn.
A glance.
A misunderstanding.

The difference between reaching home peacefully and becoming tomorrow’s headline is often just one reaction.

Not every situation deserves a response.
Some deserve distance.

If this reminds you of someone, send it to them before their next commute.
