Shailaputri Devi (शैलपुत्री देवी) is the first form of Goddess Durga worshipped on the first day of Navratri. Her name means “Daughter of the Mountain” (Shaila = Mountain, Putri = Daughter). She is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, born as the daughter of King Himavat (the Himalayas).
She is depicted riding a bull (Nandi) and holding a Trishul (trident) in one hand and a lotus in the other. Shailaputri symbolizes purity, strength, and devotion. Worshipping her is said to bring peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment.
शैलपुत्री देवी (शैल + पुत्री = पर्वत की पुत्री) नवदुर्गा का पहला स्वरूप हैं। इन्हें हिमालयराज हिमावत की पुत्री और भगवान शिव की पत्नी पार्वती का अवतार माना जाता है।
इनका वाहन बैल (नंदी) है। देवी के दाएँ हाथ में त्रिशूल और बाएँ हाथ में कमल होता है। शैलपुत्री देवी शुद्धता, शक्ति और भक्ति की प्रतीक हैं। नवरात्रि के पहले दिन इनकी पूजा करने से साधक को शांति, समृद्धि और आध्यात्मिक उन्नति प्राप्त होती है।
