There’s a tiny Masale Puri cart tucked beside Sriram Apartments in Electronics City Phase 1, and believe me, it’s a serious addiction once you try it. The moment you take the first spoonful, you’ll realize this isn’t your usual Bengaluru-style or North Indian-style chaat — it has a distinct flavour profile that stands out completely. The balance of spice, tang, and warmth in their Masale Puri is simply unmatched — perfectly soaked puris, thick and flavorful gravy, a hint of sweetness, and that comforting spice kick which lingers just right.

It’s one of those rare street food finds that hits the sweet spot between homely and exciting. You can sense the passion behind every plate, and there’s a reason people from the neighborhood keep coming back for more. If you’re anywhere near Electronics City Phase 1, don’t miss this unassuming cart — it might just serve one of the most memorable Masale Puris you’ve ever had.

Saturday mornings in Jayanagar have their own charm, and nothing complements them better than breakfast at Bengaluru Cafe. I started with their signature Idli Chutney Dippu – soft, fluffy idlis dunked generously in creamy chutney, a simple yet soulful dish that instantly set the tone for the morning. The Chow Chow Bath followed, a true Bengaluru classic where spicy khara bath and sweet kesari bath sit side by side in perfect harmony. Every spoonful felt like a nostalgic throwback to darshini breakfasts that defined our city’s food culture.

Of course, the highlight of my spread was the Benne Masale Dose – crisp, golden-brown, and layered with that unmistakable richness of butter. The potato filling was just right, neither too spicy nor too bland, making each bite indulgent without being overwhelming. Breakfast at Bengaluru Cafe is more than just food – it’s an experience where familiar flavors meet comfort, reminding you why Jayanagar still holds its spot as Bengaluru’s breakfast heartland.

Run by a warm and sweet elderly lady from North Karnataka along with a couple of helpers, this little spot is all about love, simplicity, and service. She serves up local favorites like Girmit, Mandakki, and a variety of hot Bajjis, each carrying that unmistakable homely touch.

What sets this place apart is not just the food, but the spirit behind it. It’s service-oriented in the truest sense – people often drop by, eat to their heart’s content, and pay whatever they can. The elderly amma welcomes everyone with a smile, makes sure no one leaves hungry, and treats every visitor like family.

It’s these small, soulful places that remind us what food is really about – warmth, community, and connection. 💛

“Mela” – A Hidden Gem in Gandhi Bazaar!

Tucked away in the bustling lanes of Basavanagudi, Mela is an all-day Darshini that still remains under the radar for most Bengalureans. At first glance, it may look like just another neighborhood eatery serving South Indian staples, but once you taste the food, you’ll realize it’s in a league of its own.

During our recent meetup, we made a pitstop here and were instantly impressed. The Idly-Vade-Sambar was comfort on a plate – fluffy idlis, crispy vades, and sambar with that perfect balance of spice and tang. The Chow Chow Bath was another winner, served in the most homely, no-frills way, yet delivering on flavor and nostalgia.

What makes Mela special is not just its consistency and quality but also its ability to bring back the charm of old-school Darshini culture in Bengaluru. A true hidden gem that deserves way more attention than it currently gets!

Finally made it to Drip and Drop Coffee at JP Nagar, and I must say the place has a charm of its own! 🌿 The small outdoor setup, surrounded by plants, gives off a calm and refreshing vibe – perfect for a slow coffee session. Step inside and the interiors are vibrant yet cozy, making it equally appealing whether you want to relax with a book, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a good brew.

Now, coming to the food – I had their much-talked-about Kopa Da Bun. The name itself is fun – “Kopa” means angry – and while most people might feel the heat of this spicy bun, for me it felt quite regular. That said, the flavors were spot on – soft bun, balanced spice, and a taste that makes you want to come back for more. I also tried their Korean Bun, which was equally delightful in its own way – fluffy, comforting, and a treat on its own.

Of course, a café like this shines in its beverages – their speciality coffees are fabulous, made with precision and care, and they even serve Kombucha for those who enjoy something different and refreshing. Overall, Drip and Drop Coffee is a perfect little café in JP Nagar that delivers both in vibes and taste – definitely worth revisiting.

Absolute no-nonsense place if you’re craving good food without the fluff! 👌 Sanman Fine Dine @ Sanman Gardenia brings you the best of North Indian and Chinese cuisine, served in a clean, fine-dining setup that focuses on taste and consistency over gimmicks. The ambience is calm, service is quick, and every dish comes to the table looking as good as it tastes.

Highly recommend trying their Paneer Tikka, Veg Ball Manchurian, Triple Fried Rice, Paneer Kurchan, and Veg Biryani—each one was spot on, flavorful, and satisfying. From smoky starters to comfort bowls and rich gravies, the menu has something for every mood. If you’re someone who values authentic taste, good portions, and reliable quality, Sanman Fine Dine should definitely be on your bookmark list. ❤️
