🐱 Did you know the ancient Egyptians shaved off their eyebrows to mourn the death of a cat?

In ancient Egypt, cats were sacred animals — considered physical manifestations of the goddess Bastet, protector of home, fertility, and good fortune. They were so revered that harming one (even accidentally) was punishable by death.

When a family cat passed away, members would shave off their eyebrows as a sign of deep mourning. The grieving period would last until the eyebrows grew back. Wealthy families even had their cats mummified and buried with tiny mummified mice — so they'd have snacks in the afterlife.

Over 300,000 cat mummies have been discovered across Egypt. History is wild. 🐾

The Narasimha avatar of Vishnu is one of the most intense and dramatic forms, appearing as a half-man, half-lion to defeat the demon king Hiranyakashipu. To protect his devotee Prahlada, Narasimha emerged from a pillar at twilight—neither day nor night—and killed the demon in a way that bypassed every boon he had received. This story powerfully symbolizes that divine justice cannot be outsmarted and always protects true devotion.

Mahmud of Ghazni led over 17 expeditions into the Indian subcontinent between 1000 and 1027 CE, primarily to expand wealth and power.
He is most famously known for his raid on the Somnath Temple, which was one of the richest temples of its time.
While often remembered for destruction, he also transformed Ghazni into a major center of art, culture, and learning.
His legacy remains debated — was he a ruthless invader or a strategic empire-builder?

The City That Turned to Stone in a Day - In 79 CE, Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupted and covered Pompeii in thick ash. People were caught in their daily lives—some eating, some talking—when everything stopped. The ash preserved the city so well that even today, it feels like time just paused there.

Ancient Mesopotamia—often called the cradle of civilization—gave the world one of its greatest innovations: writing. Around 3100 BCE, the Sumerians developed cuneiform, turning simple clay tablets into powerful tools for recording laws, trade, and knowledge. What started as symbols for goods and transactions eventually evolved into storytelling, governance, and the foundation of human history itself.

🏛️ Cleopatra was NOT Egyptian by blood — and that changes everything you thought you knew about her.

She was actually of Greek-Macedonian descent, part of the Ptolemaic dynasty founded by one of Alexander the Great's generals. Yet she was the FIRST ruler of her dynasty to bother learning the Egyptian language.

While her ancestors ruled Egypt for 300 years speaking only Greek, Cleopatra mastered 9 languages — including Egyptian, Hebrew, Ethiopian, and Arabic. To the people of Egypt, she wasn't a foreigner. She was a goddess.

History remembers her for her relationships with Caesar and Antony. But the real story? She was a political genius who held an empire together through pure intellect, diplomacy, and sheer force of will.

She was the last active ruler of ancient Egypt. After her death in 30 BC, Egypt became a Roman province — and the ancient world was never the same again.
