The story we never shared!!!
We were staying at Shalom Lee Homestay, tucked away in a remote valley in Pedong β one of those places where the view makes you forget the rest of the world. ποΈβ€οΈ
There was a little stream about 5 minutes down the valley, and we wanted to visit it. The 22-year-old owner of the homestay, Moses, kindly lent us his scooty.
I rode. Vika sat behind me, putting her full faith in me. β€οΈ
The road was terrible β rocks, dust, and barely a road at all. Then, in one second, the tyre caught a small rock.
The scooty went down.
I crashed onto a rock, hurting my ribs. Vika went down under the scooty. For a few seconds, I couldn't breathe.
I got up, trying to catch my breath.
And the first thing Vika did was run towards me.
βAre you okay? Are you hurt?β
Not βWhat happened?β
Not βWhy were you driving like that?β
Not a single complaint.
Just βAre you okay?β
We both had scratches and bruises β my hands, legs and ribs, her leg and elbow.
We called Moses. He came rushing down.
βDa! Are you both fine?β
I said, βWe're fineβ¦ but your scooty got scratched.β
He immediately replied:
βDa, forget about the scooty. I'm a rider myself. These things happen. I'm just happy you both are okay.β
That moment stayed with me.
We cleaned ourselves up, got back on the same scooty, and
Vika trusted me again. π
We continued down to the stream, washed our wounds and somehow⦠we were smiling.
Later, Moses came down to check on us. Seeing us smiling while cleaning our wounds.
Our wounds hurt a little, but seeing Vika smile and say "Hey! Everything is fine, I love you" that moment felt truly magical.
Because that's what a true partner does. When things go wrong, they don't make the situation heavier. They stand beside you, stay calm, and face it with you.
Watching Vika handle that moment without panic, blame or complaints made me realise once again how incredibly lucky I am. π₯°
I thanked God for giving me the best life partner I could ever ask for.
Life won't always give us smooth roads. But with the right person beside you, even the hardest roads become beautiful memories. β€οΈ
