جموں، 29 ستمبر: بانہال سے نیشنل کانفرنس کے رکنِ اسمبلی سجاد شاہین نے پیر کے روز جموں و کشمیر قانون ساز اسمبلی میں چناب ویلی اور اپنے بانہال۔گول حلقۂ انتخاب سے متعلق متعدد اہم مسائل اٹھاتے ہوئے چناب ویلی کے لیے الگ انتظامی ڈویژن قائم کرنے کا پُرزور مطالبہ کیا۔
اسمبلی کی کارروائی میں حصہ لیتے ہوئے سجاد شاہین نے کہا کہ چناب ویلی کا پہاڑی جغرافیہ، دشوار گزار راستے اور دور دراز علاقوں میں بکھری ہوئی آبادی انتظامی امور اور بنیادی سہولیات کی فراہمی کے حوالے سے منفرد چیلنجز پیش کرتی ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ چناب ویلی کو ایک الگ انتظامی ڈویژن کا درجہ دینے سے عوام کو سرکاری خدمات تک بہتر اور آسان رسائی حاصل ہوگی اور خطے کی انتظامی ضروریات کو زیادہ مؤثر انداز میں پورا کیا جا سکے گا۔
سجاد شاہین نے بانہال کے کھڑی علاقے میں ڈگری کالج قائم کرنے کا مطالبہ بھی کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کھڑی اور ملحقہ دور دراز علاقوں کے طلبہ، خصوصاً غریب اور متوسط طبقے سے تعلق رکھنے والے طلبہ کو اعلیٰ تعلیم کے حصول کے لیے طویل فاصلے طے کرنا پڑتے ہیں۔
انہوں نے حکومت پر زور دیا کہ چناب ویلی کے پسماندہ اور پہاڑی علاقوں میں تعلیم، سڑک، صحت، بجلی، پانی اور دیگر بنیادی سہولیات کی فراہمی کو ترجیح دی جائے۔
سجاد شاہین نے کہا کہ خطے کی متوازن ترقی اور نوجوانوں کے بہتر مستقبل کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ دور دراز علاقوں کی ترقی پر خصوصی توجہ دی جائے اور عوام کی دیرینہ ضروریات کو مؤثر طریقے سے حل کیا جائے۔

Army-Locals Exhibition Match Highlights Community Bonding at Banihal Cricket League

BANIHAL, Sept 21: The Indian Army Banihal Cricket League witnessed an exciting exhibition match between the Indian Army and local players of Banihal, highlighting sportsmanship, camaraderie and strong community bonding.

Commander 11 Sector RR Brigadier Ajay Pal Singh and the Commanding Officer of 12 Rashtriya Ri**es participated in the match as members of the Army team, adding enthusiasm to the sporting event.

The match provided an opportunity for local cricketing talent to interact and play alongside senior Army officers, fostering a spirit of mutual respect and camaraderie.

The participation of senior Army officers and their interaction with players and local residents reflected the Army's efforts to engage with the youth through sports and strengthen its connect with the Awaam.

Meanwhile, the tournament has entered its next stage, with the top eight teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. The upcoming matches are expected to witness further competitive cricket and enthusiastic participation from local players and spectators.

MLA Sajjad Shaheen Dedicates Augmented Sangaldan Receiving Station to People; Several PDP Workers Join National Conference

SANGALDAN, SEPTEMBER 15: MLA Banihal-Gool Sajjad Shaheen today dedicated the augmented Receiving Station at Sangaldan to the people, marking a significant step towards strengthening the power infrastructure and improving electricity supply in the Gool area.

The capacity of the Receiving Station has been enhanced from 3.15 MVA to 6.30 MVA, which is expected to reduce overloading, minimise power interruptions and improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to Sangaldan and adjoining areas.

With the augmentation of the Sangaldan Receiving Station, three Receiving Stations in the Banihal-Gool constituency have now been strengthened, as part of the ongoing efforts to upgrade the power distribution network across the constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaheen said that reliable electricity supply is a basic necessity and that people living in hilly and far-flung areas deserve dependable power infrastructure.

“The augmentation of the Sangaldan Receiving Station will help address overloading and existing supply constraints and provide considerable relief to consumers. Strengthening power infrastructure across Banihal-Gool remains one of our key priorities,” he said.

Shaheen expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the concerned departments for supporting the strengthening of power infrastructure in the constituency. He said the Government was committed to extending development and essential services to remote and mountainous areas.

During his two-day visit to Gool, the MLA also inaugurated the BDO Office-cum-BDC Building at Sangaldan, constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹45 lakh. He said the facility would strengthen administrative infrastructure and facilitate better delivery of public services.

He also inaugurated the BDO Office Building at Dharam, describing it as an important addition to the local administrative infrastructure that would improve accessibility of government services for people residing in the area.

Shaheen further addressed a public darbar at Sangaldan, attended by a large number of people from different areas. Officers from various departments were present during the interaction. The MLA listened to the grievances and demands raised by the public and directed the concerned officers to ensure timely attention and appropriate redressal of the issues.

At Gool, Shaheen addressed a workers’ meeting attended by a large number of National Conference workers and supporters. He urged the party cadre to remain closely connected with the people and work collectively to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

On the occasion, several political workers associated with the PDP joined the National Conference and expressed their resolve to work for strengthening the party and its organisation in the area. Shaheen welcomed them into the National Conference fold and said their joining would further strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

The MLA also held public interactions at Gool, Sangaldan and Dharam, besides reviewing various local issues and development-related matters with party workers and public representatives.

Shaheen said that such visits provide an opportunity to interact directly with the people, understand their concerns and monitor the progress of ongoing development works.

He reiterated that strengthening basic infrastructure, improving power supply, upgrading public institutions and ensuring responsive governance in remote and mountainous areas remain among his key priorities.

He further said that the augmentation of power infrastructure would continue in a phased manner to ensure a more stable and dependable electricity supply to the people of Banihal-Gool, particularly during periods of peak demand.

Former DDC Chairperson Shamshada Shan, besides party Block Presidents, senior party workers and prominent citizens, accompanied the MLA during the visit.

Scores of PDP workers join National Conference in Banihal;

Banihal, August 22: In a significant political development, scores of workers and activists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) joined the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) at a joining programme held in Banihal, further strengthening the party’s organisational presence across the Banihal-Gool constituency.

Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, NC leader and MLA Banihal-Gool, Sajjad Shaheen, said the growing support for the National Conference reflects the people’s increasing faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the party’s vision of development, dignity and inclusive governance.

Shaheen said that under Omar Abdullah’s leadership, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a renewed focus on development, public infrastructure, essential services and equitable growth. He said the people are increasingly looking towards a politics that delivers tangible results rather than one based on promises and opportunism.

Referring to the Banihal-Gool constituency, Shaheen said several long-pending developmental issues are being addressed with renewed focus, particularly in remote and hilly areas. He said the Gool-Sangaldan belt has received attention in sectors including roads, power, healthcare, education, drinking water and other basic infrastructure.

He highlighted the augmentation of power infrastructure as one of the important ongoing interventions. The Sangaldan Receiving Station has been augmented from 3.15 MVA to 6.3 MVA, while augmentation of the Khari Receiving Station from 3.15 MVA to 6.3 MVA is in progress. He said these measures would significantly strengthen power supply and improve reliability for Gool-Sangaldan and adjoining areas.
Shaheen said efforts are also underway to improve road connectivity, particularly in remote and difficult terrain, besides strengthening healthcare and educational facilities. He said the government is committed to bridging developmental gaps in areas that have remained neglected for decades.

He further said initiatives aimed at promoting the tourism potential of the Banihal-Gool constituency, improving public amenities and creating livelihood opportunities are also being pursued, with special emphasis on remote and economically disadvantaged areas.
“The people are looking for development, stability and dignity. They have seen the politics of promises and opportunism. Today, they are increasingly choosing the National Conference because they see a leadership and a government focused on development and delivery on the ground,” Shaheen said.

Taking a dig at the PDP, Shaheen said the party had lost public credibility because of its past political decisions and failure to safeguard the interests, aspirations and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the continued movement of workers towards the National Conference reflects a changing political landscape in the Banihal-Gool constituency.
He said the growing strength of the NC was not merely an organisational development but also an indication of increasing public confidence in the party’s leadership, policies and grassroots approach.

Welcoming the new entrants, Shaheen assured them that their joining would further strengthen the party organisation at the grassroots and contribute to taking forward the National Conference’s agenda of development, public service and inclusive politics across the constituency.

PDP’s 2014 betrayal cost J&K its dignity: Sajjad Shaheen;

Prominent Political workers from PDP and Congress join NC in Banihal;

Banihal, August 21: National Conference leader and MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheen today said the PDP's alliance with the BJP in 2014 was a historic betrayal of the trust and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a joining function in Banihal, Shaheen said the PDP had sought votes in the name of protecting the political identity, dignity and interests of Jammu and Kashmir, but after the elections chose to enter into an alliance with the BJP despite the fundamental differences between their political positions.
“The people had voted for the PDP believing that it would stand as a safeguard against forces seeking to undermine Jammu and Kashmir’s special position and political identity. Instead, the PDP entered into an alliance with the very forces whose agenda was fundamentally opposed to the aspirations it had claimed to represent. That was the beginning of the betrayal,” Shaheen said.
He said the consequences of that political compromise were profound and cannot be brushed aside.

“The PDP cannot escape its political responsibility for the course of events that followed. The party entered into an arrangement with the BJP in 2014, shared power with it and helped create the political circumstances in which Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional and political position was ultimately dismantled. The people will not forget this,” he said.
Shaheen said the PDP’s political narrative before 2014 and its conduct after the elections were two entirely different stories.
“Before the elections, the PDP spoke the language of resistance, dignity and safeguarding the interests of Jammu and Kashmir. After the elections, the pursuit of power became more important than the principles on which it had sought the people’s mandate. This contradiction exposed the hollowness of its claims,” he said.
He said the events of August 5, 2019, and the subsequent conversion of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory represented a profound setback to the political status and democratic aspirations of the region.

“Those who were partners in power with the BJP cannot now wash their hands of the consequences of that partnership. History will judge every political decision, every compromise and every alliance. The people have a right to ask the PDP what it achieved through that alliance and what Jammu and Kashmir lost,” Shaheen said.
Taking a further dig at the PDP, Shaheen said the party could not selectively remember the past only when it suited its present political narrative.
“Political memory cannot be convenient. You cannot stand before the people today and speak about dignity after having compromised your political position for power yesterday. The people are intelligent enough to distinguish between genuine conviction and political opportunism,” he said.

Shaheen said the recent movement of political workers from the PDP and Congress towards the National Conference was a reflection of the changing political mood in Banihal.
Welcoming the new entrants, he said their decision demonstrated that political workers were increasingly looking towards the National Conference as a credible platform for representing the aspirations and interests of the people.
“The National Conference does not need to borrow its commitment to Jammu and Kashmir from election to election. Our history, our struggle and our politics speak for themselves. We have stood with the people in difficult times and will continue to do so,” he said.
Shaheen said the people of Banihal were primarily concerned with development, employment, roads, power, healthcare, education and better connectivity, but these issues could not be separated from the larger question of dignity and political empowerment.

He said as the elected representative of Banihal, he would continue to raise every issue affecting the constituency and pursue projects aimed at improving the lives of people across the region.
“My politics is not about making tall claims; it is about remaining accessible to the people and delivering wherever possible. I will continue to pursue every genuine demand of Banihal-Gool, irrespective of how difficult the terrain or how complicated the administrative process may be,” Shaheen said.

He said the people had rejected politics based on “betrayal, opportunism and shifting positions” and were increasingly looking for leadership that remained consistent in its principles.
“The message from the ground is clear: people want politics of conviction, not convenience; politics of service, not power; and leadership that stands with them through difficult times. The National Conference will continue to carry that responsibility with sincerity,” Shaheen said.
