AAP J&K formally submits application at Police Post Bathindi seeking lodging of FIR against Bihar CM Nitish Kumar; party leaders condemn anti-hijab act and UP Minister Giriraj Singh’s statement
Jammu, Today:
The Aam Aadmi Party, Jammu & Kashmir today informed the media that an application has been formally submitted at Police Post Bathindi requesting the lodging of an FIR against the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar, over an incident widely reported in the media wherein he is allegedly seen attempting to pull or remove the hijab of a Muslim woman in public.
AAP J&K strongly condemned the incident, terming it an assault on the dignity of women and a blatant violation of the Constitution of India, which guarantees freedom of religion, personal liberty, and the right to live with dignity. The party demanded a fair and impartial investigation and called upon Shri Nitish Kumar to issue an unconditional public apology.
Addressing the media, Yasir Mattoo, Coordinator, Aam Aadmi Party, said:
“Wearing the hijab is the constitutional right of our daughters and sisters. Nobody has the authority to stop Muslim women from practicing their faith. Any attempt to interfere with a woman’s choice is unacceptable and unconstitutional.”
AAP J&K leaders also strongly condemned the statement of UP Minister Giriraj Singh, calling it divisive and against the spirit of unity and secularism. The party asserted that such remarks only deepen social fault lines and insult the sacrifices made by all communities.
AAP Spokesperson Muddasir Hassan, while reacting sharply, said that inflammatory and hateful statements have no place in a democratic country like India. He emphasized that “Bharat desh mein sab ki qurbaniyan barabar hain” and that no leader has the right to demean any community or its beliefs. He reiterated that India belongs equally to all its citizens, irrespective of religion.
The Aam Aadmi Party, Jammu & Kashmir reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional values, women’s dignity, secularism, and communal harmony, and stated that it will continue to raise its voice against any form of discrimination, hatred, or misuse of power.
