*Uri, July 9:* A major disruption has struck commuters in North Kashmir as the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road remains closed near the NS Bridge in Uri. The closure has caused severe inconvenience to students, employees, and the general public, with many stranded and unable to reach their destinations.

The blockage, which has been ongoing for hours, has reportedly gone unnoticed by the Beacon department, the authority responsible for road maintenance and clearance. Locals have expressed deep frustration, accusing the department of being in a "deep sleep" while the public continues to suffer.

“This is not just a roadblock — it’s a blockade on people’s right to education, employment, and emergency services,” said a local resident. Long queues of vehicles, including school buses and ambulances, have been reported, with no immediate relief in sight.

The residents of Uri and surrounding areas are now urging the administration to take immediate action to clear the road and hold the Beacon department accountable for its inaction.
